(EDIT: Didnt realize NFL Draft news goes in the fantasy football forum so I didnt see the thread poll already up. Mods please move or merge. Sorry  )

The NFL Draft is drawing closer and id like to see who we want on this board to be a Redskin April 25th with the 13th overall pick.

(Lets say Jason Smith, Aaron Curry, Eugene Monroe, and Brian Orakpo are off the board like they should be.)

I listed different players other Redskin fans and mock drafters on different sites have suggested. I could only list 10 options so I left a couple off. If you want someone else please explain who and why. Heres my pick.....

I voted for Michael Oher/OT/Ole Miss. I have him ranked right now as the 2nd best OT in the draft behind Jason Smith and ahead of Eugene Monroe. Most people will say Monroe is better but I think Oher is just as good in pass protection as my #1 OT Jason Smith on game tape.

We still have a lot of holes that need to be filled (Strong side linebacker, Right tacke, Left Defensive end, and backups at DE,CB,LB, OG/C and WR.

We only have 5 picks so I the best scenario is to trade down and pick up extra picks. If OTAndre Smith or OLB/DE Everet Brown is left at 13(which I doubt) then grab em. If not trade down and you could still get one of the USc Linebackers in the middle of the round (Brian Cushing/Rey Maualuga) or OLB/DE Aaron Maybin. Later in the round get OLB Clay Matthews, OT Michael Oher/Eben Britton. If we end up in the 2nd rd get
OT Jamon Meredith /Gerald Cadogan , G/C Max Unger, G Duke Robinson, OLB/DE Larry English,Connor Barwin DE Micheal Johnson.

I think its impossible to predict draft picks and these mock things are silly.
Look at last year - We traded down and had 3 - 2nd rd picks and still got the 2 players we were predict to get at sometime with the 2nd rd picks. So much will happen between now and the draft and during the draft. Plus with Vinny and Daddy Rich running thing You might even see a trade up(of our future picks) for LB's Aaron Curry, Brian Orakpo or one of the Tackles. So just set back and enjoy or despise the ride.

The best case is a trade down unless one of the players at a need position is there. If Oher is there at 13 id be shocked if we dont take him. Oher being listed in the bottom of the 1st round is funny. No way that happens.

I didnt ask you to play God and predict something. I asked you to tell me who you would want at 13 or a trade. Besides Devin Thomas the other two 2nd rders were projected 2nd rd picks last year. If Thomas wasnt drafted at 11 by Buffalo people thought he would slip also. Ill sit back and talk Redskin football and not be afraid to have a opinion.

I think you missed the point! I was and still am a draft nerd and subscribe to certain draft publication and on the net everyday trying to get info. But like rick "Doc" walker said there is so much that happen in these draft things. So much mis information rumors and etc;

So I well tell you who I want the skins to pick if they stay at 13. Forget OT' Andre smith (will be gone) and Micheal Oher is a reach(has motivation issues and could be boom or bust). I like Brian cushing at that spot or Rey Rey Maualuga at that spot. So either one of those is my pick and leaning more towards Brian cushing because is is more of a trues 4-3 SLB.

I think its a necessity we take a RT at 13 IF we draft there. Ifone of the big 4 OTs are not there than we should try to trade back. If any of those OTs are there than you have to snatch them up.

IF we pick at 13 we draft : Smith or Oher (other 2 big time OTs will be gone)

If we trade back we draft : Britton or Beatty

I think that 1st pick for us MUST be a RT if you want a shot to do anything on offense this yr

I didnt mean it serious lol. I was just messing around with ya. I agree its hard to do mocks and predictions because of all the trades and the fact players slip. I just didnt get why you listed like 20 players when I just wanted your opinion on who you wanted.

Andre Smith might be there depending on the red flags hes shown. His potenial might outweigh those flags and could still go top 10. I dont think Oher should be as low as some people think but he does have some red flags.

I agree Cushing would be a nice pick. Hes a guy im high on in this draft. He is a great tackler and has alot of potenial at the next level. I also like Rey Maualuga but I think he might slip to the late 1st round.

Sorry about the other post I didnt mean it the way it sounded lol.

All long as were all skins fans its all good!!!

I've been doing this draft thing since I was 12 and rarely do the skins pick who I want(save for sean taylor, laron Landry, and devin thomas recently). I kind agree with the other guy about RT. I am surprised they didn't pick up a RT in free agency(not much left now). I kind of have blind faith that Heyer will pick up his game or Jansen will rebound to his previous form. I still think the need to get O lineman later with other picks. Also I think it was a bad move to sign both Phillips and Daniels. Both are a 1 yr Temp fix and I would rather have signed just one and signed a younger Free agent or Draft another DE. With vinny running things there have been so many questionable transactions and I afraid there will be more. I would be at all surprised if the drafted CB Malcolm Jenkins, QB Mark Sanchez, or DT B.J. Raji

Yeah the Skins usually dont take who I want either but when they do its classic. I still remember when we drafted Rod Gardner I was so PO'ed.

I agree I dont understand the Phillips and Daniels moves. Makes little sense imo. They should of re-signed Evans.

I would prefer Oher if he is available but as long as we get a OT, DE, or OLB with our first pick ill be happy.

Why Oher? I heard had picked his times were he played hard But I heard this of a lot of players coming out who have been to pro bowls. A lot was made of Andre smith's work outs but when I watched his highlights at was a different story. I just don't want to go into next year with Blades or Fincher at SLB.

Hopefully we can find a OLB in round 3 if we dont trade down. I think Oher is perfect to fix our RT situation and then move to LT when Samuels retires. On tape he looks really good in pass protection. The only player in the draft as good or better is Jason Smith. Some people think Oher is a risk but id take the gamble on a guy with as much potenial as that.

Andre Smith isnt worth a top 20 pick in my opinion. If we reached though I wouldnt be too worried because he can move to guard if need be. He has one too many red flags for my liking. His weight and no show at the combine made me turn on him. He is the best run blocker in the draft by far though.

Redskins | Leading candidate to trade for Cutler?
Share:
Wed, 01 Apr 2009 06:00:55 -0700

Mike Klis, of The Denver Post, reports the Washington Redskins are among the leading candidates to pull off a deal for Denver Broncos QB Jay Cutler. The Redskins have a proven young quarterback in QB Jason Campbell and would meet the Broncos' preference of dealing Cutler outside the AFC. The Redskins also have the No. 13 selection in the NFL Draft, one spot behind the Broncos.

I will be so P.Oed if we give up both J.C. and the 13th pick for culter. Just JC and a 5th or lower is OK

It would be another bad deal between the Broncos and the Redskins. As I said in the other thread, if the FO thinks JC is not the answer and Cutler is, then make the trade, but the Broncos have zero leverage, in much the same way the Redskins had zero leverage when we traded Champ to them. If we give up the first round pick and a starting QB, we should stop making trades until we get a better negotiator.

Trading down is the best way I know to exchange an impact player for a bunch of guys who will spend most of their time on the bench.

I want Oher. I think it flat out irresponsible to spring for any defensive player in lieu of a top OL. After drafting Oher, our next priority should be another OL, then another one after that. Dockery was not an outstanding pickup and will solve next to nothing. He was always mediocre for us and he was terrible at Denver.

We do not presently have an OL capable of matching up with the DL's in our division. Frankly, I expect continued disaster unless the FO faces facts.

I want to start off by saying that id love to have Oher.

I disagree about Dockery. He was a damn good OL for us. He had trouble with penalties but other than that he was a damn good run blocker and solid in pass protection.

He was in Buffalo though not Denver.

Id love the trade. I think if we got a pick in return also id like it even more though. Campbell probably isnt the answer. Why waste 2009 on Campbell when we can get Cutler? This is the only trade where id have no problem giving up the 13th overall pick and not getting another first in return.

I dont think the trade will happen though. Cutler imo will be a Buc.

Buffalo. Sorry. I knew that At least I did before my brain failed this morning because of Michael Vick's salary expectations.

Back to Doc. His tendency for the inexplicable lapse use to make me hold my breath. There were games when he made the key mistakes that resulted in losses. Since I am thinking about and a little old today morning, I just broke into laughter remembering when Moss accounted for minus seventeen point in one game, all by himself-- maybe the worse game ever by a Redskin player other than Boonell.
