Trung Canidate

http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/187503 I know alot of people keep throwing Trung's name up when it comes to cutting players, but I really don't want him to be cut. I think he should stay with the skins. He should at least be a back up for Portis. Trung is extremely fast. Some say he can't break tackles that good, but his yards per carry average says otherwise. Alot of people justify Ramsey's performance by blaming Spurrier. Trung did pretty good considering he ran in Spurrier's system. He could do even better under Bugle. I don't understand why people say he should be cut. I think he's pretty good. His salary isn't that high and keeping him allows us to have depth at RB. Trung and Portis are the exact size and weight with great speed. He is the perfect back up for Portis.

It's true, what you say about Canidate. Remember though, he's been buried before behind an All-Pro RB, in St. Louis. He chafed in that role. I think the kindest thing we could do for him is let him go. Let him see if there's another team out there (??) who could put him to better use. I'd rather have a change of pace guy running with Portis, somebody like Betts.

I will agree with you somewhat. I thought with all of the line and coacing changes that there was no real need to blow a lot of cash and sign Portis, thus losing Bailey. I thought that we may have actually had a pretty good year running the ball with our existing backs. Apparently though, I was overruled. Now that we have Portis, I would have to cut Trung just for financial reasons alone. I don't know his cap number, but I think it's around a mil or so. Let's just sit back and watch Joe do his thing.
Remember, I didn't approve of trading ChAmp, so I just have to have faith and sit back like everyone else.

I totally disagree with you Brandon There is no need to keep Trung Candidate! First of all he sucks. Second of all Ladell Betts had shown signs last year but just was unable to stay healthy. He is the bruiser type of back Gibbs loves. I feel he is much better then Trung. The only purpose for keeping a back like Trung would be for a 3rd down changeup back and we have Chad Morton for that.

How can you say he sucks? His career yards per carry average is 4.6. That's damn good. His salary, if I'm not mistaken isn't even 1 mill. He is extremely fast and can catch the ball. I think he is perfect for backing up Portis. Sure, we can use Betts, but what if Portis sprains an ankle or something. It will be nice to have a speedy back available for insurance purposes. Betts will be used when we need a big back.

Portis = Earnest Byner
Betts = Gerald Riggs/change of pace

Trung = Portis' backup since Betts is not a "slasher n` dasher" like Trung/Portis are.

If the Skins keep Portis, Betts, and Trung they would have one of the deepest RB corps in the league....and Gibbs is all about depth.

I agree.

He is only costing us $900,000 against the cap this year. So there is no real benefit to cutting him. I would like to see what he can do under the guidance and play calling of a real coach. I know that he probably wont get much of a chance though. Man he is quick. Runs like a 4.23 40.

I hate to say this and I hope I don't jinx Portis and the Skins, but Portis has missed a couple of games the last couple of years(similar to faulk, they both miss about 2 or 3 games a year) Trung did great backing up Faulk, when he was injured and his contract really isn't that bad(if it's under a milliion) I say keep him and if Portis does get injured, then he'd fill in fine. Of course if we can get maybe a draft pick in exchange for him, then go for it.

I like the comment about Trung maybe doing better behind Joe Bugel line, I really hadn't thought about it like that.

If he was going to be cut I think it would have been done by now. He's either on the trading block or they're going to see what he can do in preseason.

while the guy is dirt cheap, he still has no dead money hit on the cap if we cut him. it free's up nearly a million in cap space to cut him. can you say "cap casualty"?

I say keep him; at least he's good insurance and some team will need him when their RB gets hurt and he'll bring us a 4th or 5th rounder who will lead us to the Super Bowl...

look.....trung has the same type of speed portis has except portis can run inside and outside..The only backs we need is betts, cartwright and portis. We should get rid of trung to save cap space

I'd like to keep him. He was supposed to be our #1 back last year so he has some talent. His injuries can't have helped. Behind Bugel's well coached O line he will be effective when called upon, even if it's mainly 3rd downs. He's not expensive so I think he's worth hanging on to.

You should shop Dung...if nobody bites, cut him.
