Hognostication Playoffs

OK, we have a bit of a situation here. Since there was such a pared down season we need to decide how to handle a playoffs with only 6 contestants. Do we:

A. Scrap the normal method, and have a mini season, most wins and best tie-breaker gets the trophy.

OR

B. Start the playoffs a week late, and then follow the regular format through the SuperBowl.

OR

C. Start the playoffs on time, and finish during Championship week.

Personally, I like option C, because that gives more games at each level to hognosticate, while still giving the top two a bye, and preserves home-field advantage up to the HognostiBowl.

P.S. Only SkinsJock*, BigRedskinDaddy, RiC, Countertrey, and Hoss need respond.

Personally, I think that SJ and BRD earned the bye... but I'll go with whatever comes up.

So then vote for option B or C.

I would love to weigh in on this, but me being the new guy...I will happily go along with whatever you wiser, more experienced Hognosticators decide -

And then I'll kick some ass 8)

Then do! I am asking for the six playoff members' opinions.

Okay then. I vote B, but B or C would be fine by me.

I am feeling a "B".

I'll go with C  - I actually don't mind just picking the winners begining with this week, which I guess is option A.

I'm not sure why we would "miss" a week?

I'm good with whatever is voted in

Let me explain better, since y'all don't seem to follow.

Option A:
This means we continue to pick the games as we did in the regular season, with everyone picking in a big pool; best record through the SuperBowl wins.

Options B and C:
Since we only have six contestants, that means two conferences of three each, with a bye for the top player in each conference. This leaves three rounds of a head-to-head tournament. Since the NFL playoffs have four rounds (including the SB), we need to either start a week late or end a week early. I voted for ending early (C), since that gives more games to hognosticate in each round, and therefor better odds of not having to use the tie-breaker.

Thanks for the explanation JSPB and I appreciate that you are trying to make the best solution - I really just want to pick the games - I have not played in these rounds but I think having more games is better

No matter which option you choose, you get to pick the games. The issue is if it is head-to-head, or a free-for-all.

Okay - I can handle picking the games and would be happy to continue the way it was - then again, it is the playoffs ...

As the person that is in charge for this section of the season I guess you will have to decide which route to head down. I am ready to pick for this weekend with all six of us OR we could allow anyone who wants to play OR we can split into the 2 groups like last year ... whatever you decide is fine.

I was fortunate enough to finish on top for the season, that, like the Redskins is over for this year - give it your best shot and we will all run with it

My opinion is that ...

Oh, oh, It has been decided.

Well, I do not care. I am going to win AS USUAL.

I am waiting for the lowly visitor's picks with a bit of a headache. -drinking

They are gone with a hangover.

Besides, it works as a psychological tactic.

What? You never heard of a New Years's hangover as a tactic?

Besides, if the Cards stink the tank, I can blame it on the hangover.

I was going to do just that.

HOWEVER, it has more merit to predict an upset ...

... IF it happens.

I have changed my mind. I think we should start all over again with a -different- arrangement for the playoffs.

this coming season, would it be possible to just keep picking games as we do but only keep the top 12 in play for the "playoffs" (much like the NFL)

that way you could:
A) still divide into the 2 groups and have the top 2 in each division have a bye weekend (like the wild card round) - the second round would have 8 players. 4 players for the championship game and then end up with the top 2 from each group for the SB game.
B) not divide into 2 groups and no bye week - keep the top 12 in play and then you cut down to the top 8 after the first round, the top 4 and then the top 2

just a thought

[sarcasm] #-o Why didn't we think of that? [/sarcasm]

That's the way it has always been until this year. It is pared down this season because of the weeks 9-17 malfunction that made us post the picks here in ATL.

And this is the guy that literally beat the crap out of me ???

We ran out of Hognosticators due to the mess in the process this year. We'll fix it next season. I have been traveling and saving the world from terrible villains most of the last few months.

Yeah, that's groovy baby !!!
