Do you see this team beating Cincy on the road?

I don´t, sadly. In fact, I see this team as about to implode, after what we saw this week with Portis.

Cincy play terrible, we know. Underperforms constantly. Are these Skins any different?

I feel the same way but I still think that despite the way I feel they probably will win.

This gives a great prediction. I feel that the Bengals will actually be leading most of the game and then Portis will take over.

I agree with that prediction. We didn't crush the Lions so its not like were gonna run away with this one. They'll give us a tough time for most of the game.

I guess we should not be surprised that some here will find ways to express their lack of any faith in the team and even when, after playing 4 tough teams in the past 5 weeks, we come up against one of the weakest teams in the NFL.

as the stupid Jerry Jones exclaimed WAKE UP PEOPLE

This is your team and we are still involved in a spot for the playoffs, with a rookie coach - against all predictions, we still have a chance to end this season 10-6 and some of you want to find ways to put your team down

Here's what you're implying:
The Bengals are #29 running the ball - we are #10 stopping the run.
The Bengals are #30 in passing - we are #7 in pass defense.
The Bengals are #32  in total offense - we are #5 in total defense.
The Bengals are #32  in scoring and we are #6 in scoring defense.

Now just where do you find the reality in your suppositions that we have a chance of losing this game - are you that down on these guys that you think they can play down to this team's level. These stats are from the past 13 games against some pretty good teams. :?

I understand that any team can win on any given day but the reality is this is your team - do you have such little faith?

What a contentless post. The Skins lost, let's ignore Cincinnati couldn't beat the U of and that we've lost to very good teams, we can't win!!! I watch the games, I don't look at who we've played or who we're going to play, I don't remember more then a few weeks, I don't look at the standings, all I remember is we lose every game for as long as I can remember.

El Mexican wrote:Cincy play terrible, we know. Underperforms constantly. Are these Skins any different?

Are the 2 and 11 Bengals who have won less then 20% of their games "any different" then the Skins with a winning record and road wins over the Cowboys and Eagles? No, you got me, we're no different.

When you say things like that, do you just make these things up in your mind or do you look at recent history to support you claims and predictions? Because every time Portis has done something like this, it has motivated the whole team and Portis' subsequent performances have been brilliant.

Redskins.com Matt Terl wrote:But I stand by my initial impression while I listened live: it was a frustrated guy blowing off some steam, and far from the end of the world. Besides, the last time Clinton Portis got involved in a radio fracas, he followed it not long after with some of the best running of his recent career. If that happens again, the team will be actively encouraging him to call in and insult people.

And by the way, Portis has missed several weeks of practice... right? He's missed practice due to multiple injuries, yet shows up at game time and says he can play. So, Zorn sits him, for less than half of a game, due to said injuries and missed practices, and all of a sudden Portis is 100% and is a full go at practice the following week.

:-k Hmmm... I look at that in two ways; either it was pretty damn smart on Zorn's behalf to rest his best player, now at 100% (all of a sudden)... or.... Portis may have lost some motivation, exaggerated injuries to skip practice (as I believe he's done before; i.e. that mysterious tendonitis), and now, Zorn has gotten him fired up, healthy and practicing at 100%. Either way, there may be some brilliance in what Zorn did. I predict Portis will most likely explode this week against Cincy.

There is no way that Ryan Fitzpatrick throws for 2 TDs against us, and has a 93 QB rating against us. I don't think anyone has posted a 93 QB rating against us; and Fitzpatrick is the worst QB we will have faced this year.

Even when Romo threw for 3 TDs in the first game against us, he had a 90.1 rating (and 72.8 when they beat us in DC). Warner threw for 2 TDs, but didn't have a 93 rating (he was 81.5). Brees had a 69.8 rating against us.

Stupid simulation doesn't take into account that teams just aren't successful at throwing the ball on us. Yes, our offense stinks, but our pass defense is superb, even with the complete absence of a pass rush.

I am remembering a game not too long ago when Mr. Eli torched us for over 300 before the 4th quarter started.

Hey, dudes, I'm just saying the way I feel about the perfomance of this team for the last month and a half. No need to get aggresive. That's enough time in a season to install doubt about the capabilities of this team to any rational fan that's not wearing burgundy and gold glasses.

Having said that, our team has played bad offensively. This game is still won by points scored, and even if we play freakin Cincy, there's no guarantee we can or will score frequently. I'm just saying this based on the fact that only two other team have scored less than the Skins: Cincy and Detroit.

The diatribe of Portis this week was public and against his coach. I think Zorn will make him earn every word he said about him when speaking on the radio. If he escalates the problem by limiting Portis' playing time to show him who's in charge here, he's lost him. If he lets him do or say whatever he wants, he loses the team. So that's a tough place to be in for Zorn this week. Specially againt Cincy on the road, where all the pressure will be on the Skins because they have the better record. They should win, but we all know how that's gone during Snyder regime.

The difference between this year and the past four cannot be ignored. This year we have no Gibbs, the glue that kept all egos in place when times got critical. Can Zorn emulate him in that area?

I think we'll be lucky to win or score in the teens unless Zorn starts somebody other than Campbell or comes out throwing. We don't have a line that can sustain drives. After getting the ball, we'll need to score in seven or eight plays. Here's hoping for a step-out day for Kelly and Thomas. If Cooley catches only one pass, like last week, we're dead.

We may have the best running back in the NFL. Unfortunately, unless he learns to fly, I don't foresee him getting beyond the DL. We now have the weakest OL in the NFL, Cincy included. Not a single one of our starters would survive a cut from the better teams in the league and we have no back-up talent except maybe Rhineheart, who hasn't been able to make the activated list until now.

A lot of fans tend to think its more important to have an adequate line for the passing game, rather than the running game. Wrong. It's easier to pass block than run block and run blocking requires greater skill, teamwork, and precision. Also, since passing results in fewer downs, it takes less energy for old guys to pass block than run block.

Here's the Crazy Horse Truism: For the running game to work, the OL must be able to consistently move the DL. For the passing game to work, the OL must be able to slow down the DL most of the time.

Further, it's extremely difficult for a lineman to beat a linebacker on a running play. On a passing play, the linebacker is over-tasked and vulnerable, as are cornerbacks, who are often forced to guess where receivers are going and thus can be beaten by inferior talent.

A second Crazy Horse Truism: If a team is better than you are, pass the ball and hope for breaks. There are no Hail Mary plunges into the line.

Now all they have to do is hold then to 9 points or less because we all learned this week the 10 points is enough to win!!

Yep, some people here think that our "bend but don't break" defense, will always keep our struggling offense in contention. Hope this is not the week they have a bad game...

The 2-11 Rams beat us so the idea of losing this game is not a stretch. This team is very good at playing down to its competition. I expect us to win but wouldn't be surprised at all if we lost.

Yeah, I made a lot of those same arguments before the Rams game, convincing myself it was a no-way-do-they-lose game. It's just hard to tell with this team.

Yeah...I say we beat the bengals like 24-17 or so........we are not good enough to dominate anyone but I think the guys play better this week and the bengals have their share of problems this year.......Cooley needs to get involved more.....The bengals have allowed tight end scores like 5 of the past 6 weeks.

I am very surprised that there are some that think our defense is not going to win this game for us - I understand we have concerns offensively BUT this Bengals team is almost inept defensively and their offense is not going to be competitive with our defense.

I just see their team not being able to handle the difference in the time of possession that we will have and the field position battle that I feel we will benefit from.

I know how we played against other teams BUt those teams at least had something going for them - this Bengals team is not going to be close to playing with our guys who I believe will play with a lot of heart.

I cannot believe that there are so many here who think that we will not be a team determined to show that we are a lot better than we have seen the last few weeks.

HAIL

I'll be here next week to hear the excuses - do not attempt to get on the bus

Some of us are just tired of the wat things have gone this season. Even when things were going great, this team managed to lose at home against the pathetic Rams.

Schizophrenic would be the best way to describe this team. And it's been like that for most of the Snyder regime.
