The Legal Double Standard

Okay, so there appear to be at least one or maybe two actual lawyers on this board. There are certainly plenty of would-be's.

Mayebe one or two can help me understand this.

I was thinking about this when I saw several of OJ's co-defendants got off without any jail time (suspended sentances).

I'm NOT defending OJ. I think it was a long time coming.

My question is this:

Why is it, that if the defense attorneys try to bribe or influence a witness into not testifying, they get in trouble, but the prosecution can offer reduced sentances (and sometimes outright immunity) to co-defendants and that's not considered bribery?
