What I'd like to see for the next 3 games...

IMO, the seasons over. Get all ruffled and pissy if you want, you should know by now that I could not care less how you all feel about my opinion. So please spare me all the diehard BS for a couple of minutes.
Since I feel that the season is over, now would be a good time to get some game film on the capable young linemen we have...especially with the injuries from yesterday. Let's figure out where we're going to play Heyer and let's get that 3rd round guard in there. Maybe not for entire games but just for the 4th quarter.
I'd also like to see Kelly and Thomas given a huge bump in playing time. My bright spot of yesterdays game is that I never saw James Thrash, thank goodness. ARE needs to be phased out but I doubt that will happen because he's a vet and Zorn doesn't want to hurt feelings... Kelly and Thomas need to swap time with Kelly perhaps getting more time than Thomas even though I feel Thomas is better right now. So why do I think Kelly should get more time?
I want to see Thomas get some time at KR and PR (mostly PR). Get ARE out of there, he is garbage. He has exactly 1 hightlight at PR this season and that was last night when he shook guys out of their shoes but as always fell to the ground soon thereafter.
Fred Davis. I will be truly dissapointed in Zorn if this guy doesn't make it on the field during these last few games. We need to get set for next year and a 2 TE set with Davis and

ey. Get him used to the speed of the game now, lets not wait till next year. What do we have to lose? Points? LOL
Let's look ahead and now seems like a good time. I feel like now is a good time to see the talent we have budding deep (maybe shallow, lol) in our depth charts. If you wanna say CLL is all mean and mad, look at this post as a sign of my positivity for the future.

CLL is mad and mean!
...just kidding.
I completely agree. While I don't necessarily feel it would be a good idea to throw Colt behind a faltering offensive line, I can definitely see the wisdom in giving younger linemen an opportunity to learn and get better. Like our children, these young linemen are the future. Thomas and Kelly need increases in playing time, Davis needs to learn to run his routes, and ARE needs to stop returning punts except for only in the most dire of circumstances.
For those who would seriously call CLL mad and mean, he makes a valid point here. The season is pretty much finished, we kissed our playoff hopes goodbye last night with a very winnable game against Baltimore. The same problems that have been bogging us down last year returned to haunt us this year. To make the playoffs this year... we would need a miracle, and we would most assuredly make a first round exit.

Woah there buddy, nowhere did I mention Colt. Let's not turn this thread into a Colt discussion.
And I'm not saying to throw him or JC to the wolves by playing the young linemen for a full game. I'm saying to insert them where/when it wont do too much damage.

I should have worded it better. And no, we don't want another one of those. I had a slightly scathing reply to one of those last night, complete with statistics and good research, and it's gone now, I assume the thread was deleted. My point basically was we should play everyone else except C*lt (Don't say his name! People will catch on and start posting about it!)

Chris sorry but you'll only see that in the event of injuries..."you play to win the game" You and I may know the season is over but the team does not feel that way and will play it out.

I see that as trying to win for the future. What's the problem with trying to evaluate talent, especially when the current talent isn't doing anything. Just going through the motions and doing the same crap every game doesn't come off to me as playing to win the game.

Especially when as I pointed out in another forum we have 3 very winnable games left and could finish 10-6. The season is definitely NOT over (yet). Yes, we haven't been playing well, but we have been beaten by good teams. I think 10-6 is a lot more attainable this year then our finish last year was to get us in the playoffs. I sure hope CP is ready to go though, it's going to be tough w/o him.

CP was benched last night if you hadn't noticed or seen his comments after the game.

He needed to be benched. He's not playing anywhere near 100% and is only risking injury playing like that.

The problem with that is there's not going to be any cohesion with putting a lineman in for a quarter. I believe it takes more than a complete game to have a lineman be able to achieve his potential. The lineman have to know, almost instinctually, what the other lineman are doing for them to succeed.
I'd also like to see Kelly and Thomas given a huge bump in playing time. My bright spot of yesterdays game is that I never saw James Thrash, thank goodness.
I agree with this.
ARE needs to be phased out ...
I like ARE in 4 WR sets, but I never have liked him as a starter. Reduce salary with reduced tasks.

Hall does some returning as well, doesn't he? Either way, I agree with getting ARE out of the PR game.

They should have "rested" him a long time ago.

I'm not saying it'll be anything definitive but you have to start somewhere and this week or next week we'll be at the point where it doesn't really matter.

Extremely reduced salary.

He's our unofficial #1 CB. He cannot be risked. Springs is a goner and Carlos can't catch. Flacco stayed away from Hall because he's a threat. Carlos had two tipped passes and let one get through. He has horrible hands and will never be a shutdown CB because of it.

Are you suggesting that if he is ready to go, as in not injured, they wouldn't play him? He's been injured and hasn't practiced for weeks. That he was "benched" as opposed to "injured" is a distinction without a difference.

I agree with everything. Just like Moss goes back every so often, we could do that with Hall, too. I like mixing it up; if only JZ did, too...
Keep the faith!!

The season is by no means over. This team has showed that it knows how to win in December, and the next three games are very winnable. If we win the next three we probably get in. I know we've been playing terrible, but keep the faith!!

I agree with CLL that we should start Colt!
"Over? Did you say over? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?"

I'd also greatly reduce Portis' role (stats be damned). He's already left enough pieces of himself on the field for one year. I want a healthy Portis back next year (when we have junked our OL). I'd try equally dividing carries between Betts ( to keep defenses honest) and Sellers (to find out what he can do-- I think he'll be a great running back with Portis? Do I think the Skins are stupid for never trying this. Yes!). Also, my first five receivers would be Kelley, Thomas, Davis,

ey, and ARE (for trick plays, mostly). Moss would be my punt returner. I think he can excel there.
I'd try to find linemen (DL and OL) now buried in the chart and wouldn't spend any more time working with Thrash and Jensen. I also would try to find a replacement for Rock (he's taken a long step backward this year.)
I don't know what I'd do with Campbell. I no longer believe in his possibilities. I don't believe in Colt's either, but I'd give him and Collins a look. Next year Collins may have to be the guy...until we can draft a hot shot.
Of course, we could really jump to the wild side by signing Michael Vick for peanuts and trading up to draft Percy Harvin if he's coming out early, signing Hanesworth, and spending the rest of our drafts and free agent money on the OL. To get Harvin, we could use Moss and others to trade up. If Vick continues to act like a fool at QB, we could use him at wide receiver.
I know Harvin quite well. Only three characteristics will get in his way to NFL greatness-- 1) his hands are only average, 2) he seems to lack the flexibility and leaping ability on the run necessary for circus catches, 3) he has a tendency to get hurt and/or pretend to be hurt (as in prima donna). Still, he's the greatest home run threat I've ever seen in football.
In high school, his coach wouldn't hesitate to directly hike him the ball directly from a run up the gut even on four and long. For his college career he averages a TD every six touches in spite of double coverage and any number of schemes to stop him.

If we lose to Cincy:
-- Start Kelly and Thomas wide and Moss in the slot;
-- Give Davis more time at TE;
-- Call more roll-out plays for Campbell to give him time;
-- Play Taylor on his natural side;
-- Chuck the ball down the field;

Revert back to Run-heavy offense, the Oline can't pass protect, make them run block. Half yard gain is a bit better than and inc. pass or a sack.

That's the very reason why CP sat out the 2nd 1/2 of last week's game..
