Just saw on ESPN Alexander was released today. Wonder who's coming in? I'm sure it will be on the d-line.

Looked like Torrence was on the field a lot for New Orleans last night too!

Didn't show much, but.... never really got a good chance..... we need that roster spot for injury depth, he got caught up in a numbers game...
We just didn't have the luxury of carrying him as a number 3/4 back, with no special teams skills. It is ashame we couldn't have done this and saved Torrence.... oh well, "thats the NFL"...

Alexander was never considered to be more than a fill-in until Betts got back.

Why bring in a guy who can't play? Put Taylor at
LB, Blades in the middle, and rotate 5 guys on the line.

Call up Mason (Do we still have him?) and drop Thrash.

Holding onto Thrash, Betts, and Jansen and letting go of that receiver from Virginia and Mason have been big mistakes this year. Also, we should have foreseen Washington's problems. It's all a mistake to stick with Campbell so doggedly when it's clear he'll face a stiff rush. He's not ready for it. I'd give Collins a shot against the Giants if Campbell starts the game badly, which he will.

Why think anyone has to replace Alexander? He was just a stop-gap to cover the injuries to Betts and Portis, but I don't see that they have to bring anyone in.

I'd say this just means we won't have to deactivate someone, like Fred Davis, Chad Rinehart, Erasmus James or Rob Jackson, who were all deactivated for the Seattle game.

Welcome back....not sure if you have been around since the preseason but Marcus Mason is on an active roster so unless he gets cut, he will not be a Redskin. Not to mention, all he did was run the ball well against 3rd Stringers and only the "Ravens?" felt that he was worth a shot. No one else in the league made an attempt to sign him off our PS.

As for Collins, that's just not going to happen. JC has not cost us a game. Now, he hasn't won a game for us either. I feel like Joe Gibbs is still in his mind and his fear for making a mistake is holding him back. I would love JC to get around Favre a little in the off season to learn that its ok to take some risks once in a while. The only way Collins gets in the game is either by injury, blowout by us, or a trick play.

I hope this caught you up on a few things. One other thing, this will probably be Thrash's last season with the Redskins. He has not done much on S. Teams and with the way that the Redskins used Kelly this past Sunday, I feel that he will be the 3rd receiver going forward.

Well... hmm... I guess with the injuries to Montgomery, Golston and Griff, they needed some depth on the d-line.

Not to mention, he knows the defense and he has shown good run stopping ability. Now on passing downs, I doubt he will be on the field.

Redskins.com wrote: Redskins Re-sign Boschetti, Release Alexander

The Redskins have re-signed defensive tackle Ryan Boschetti and released running back Shaun Alexander, the team announced on Tuesday.

Boschetti rejoins the team that he started with in 2004 as an undrafted free agent.

He played in 19 career games with two starts with the Redskins from 2004-07. He totaled 15 tackles.

He spent the 2008 training camp with the Redskins, but was released on Aug. 30.

Boschetti, a high motor play, has earned respect from the Redskins’ coaching staff and teammates for his energy and intensity.

During training camp, defensive coordinator Greg Blache said this about Boschetti: "He has phenomenal intensity, he has a great spirit and he’s a great teammate. He works his rear end off. He’s a coach’s dream.

“He is not the most athletic guy, but if he had as much athleticism as he has heart and want-to, he would be in the Hall of Fame.
null

"Boschetti is one of those guys you find yourself pulling for because of the way he approaches the game. He has a great passion for the game, a great feel for the game.”

Boschetti’s services were needed due to a rash of injuries along the defensive line.

Alexander seems done,I thought some team would have offered him a low end contract this summer but that didn't happen. He must not have anything left, too bad for him.

He may end up in Philly though with Westbrook and Buckhalter hurt. Its a W. Coast offense and he knows the system. Not to mention they would love the intel.

Yeah, I don't see anything wrong with the move either. Alexander wasn't getting on the field with Portis and Betts seemingly healthy and available, and Boschetti should add some DT depth with some injuries.
