Lofa Tatupu should be suspended for the helmet to helmet hit he gave Portis on the 1, last I checked it is illegal to use the top of your helmet as a spear into your opponents helmet. Has the rule changed? If not Goodell needs to call jerry and ask permission to do something.

Yeah their helmets hit each other, but I don't think he was leading with his helmet really, he was just trying to make a stop on the goal line... Moss, on the other hand, will be waiting to see what his punishment is for throwing that punch...

Regardless of whether it was helmet to helmet or not, he should not be suspended. It was a goal-line hit. The line needs to be drawn somewhere, but most of the suspension worthy hits are on QBs and are not related to a play where inches matter. You do whatever you have to do when you are inches to the goaline. They wear helmets for a reason. The league has gotten a little soft on this issue as of late.

The Skins and the fans should be careful about calling for suspensions.

After all, Moss is in line for a suspension WAY before Tatupu.

That wasn't a punch! If it was I have "punched" plenty of people in fun or frustration. He simply pushed the DB away from him. Yes it was a quick jab of a push, but it was an open handed push to the DB's chest (high on the chest, but still the chest)

Was it dumb? Yes! Should a push get you suspended? No!

On the Lofa hit. Plenty of people have gotten fined for helmet to helmet contact and some have even been suspende. The guy that laid A. Bolden out and broke his face, was not leading with his helmet and didn't hit with the crown of his helmet, but he still got suspended. Just because someone gets hurt doesn't make it an illegal hit.

I don't think Lofa should get suspended, but I would have to look at it again.

There are two people they will protect everytime. 1 is the QB...no helmet to helmet and no hit to the face mask. 2 WR's. They will not allow helmet to helmet while the WR is still in the air going for the ball not paying attention, unprotected. I have yet to hear anyone getting fined for helmet to helmet against a RB whome by the way are told to lower their body and helmet at point of contact. I believe. maybe I'm wrong.

No matter how you dial it up Moss was wrong. However if the refs were calling all the holding calls and interference calls Moss would not probably have resorted to his frustrated push/punch. If you notice a few plays later Moss did get the interference call and we ended up on the what 3 or 4 yard line. As you see that play Moss is clapping at the end of the play.

I said it on another message board and will say it again. I wonder how much say the coach's have in the penalties. Why? cause I know in little league and High school the refs will speak with the coach's prior to the game and ask how they want the game called....close or simply let them play? The refs seemed to be letting the teams play.

I'm pretty sure the only coach the ref's ever consult with about that is son of Bum.

Moss was being held long after the play was dead. He has a right to defend himself, the guy grabbed him and wouldn't let go even after Moss threw the shadow punch. If a grown man came up to me and grabbed me and wouldn't let go what am I suppossed to do? Moss did what he had to do to defend himself.

As for Tatupu he speared portis in the helmet with the crown of his helmet, yes this is football, but there are rules, and that is illegal. If CP wasn't a tough tough dude he could've gotten a concussion or worse, watch the Portis highlights on redskins.com it's clear as day.

Seriously? Because Wilson had grabbed him until the play ended, Moss was justified in throwing a punch at him?

How often do you see defensive linemen throwing punches, as they're literally held all game long?

Let me spell it out for you here. Moss was WAY OVER THE LINE.

I think the boxing style punch was a bit much but being held and then punching was even worse my motto go back to the huddle, oh the dline and the oline do the same just closer together and they usualy wrestle with there face mask or shoulder pads....... the ref was right there and it ended as quickly as it began and there atleast wasn't a blatent cheapshot but moss did take his swing more like a good jab out of frustration hopefully he gets to make to make a good contribution to the team. Fact we never as a team need the 15 yarders or the 5 yarders and thats that. the worst I saw ever was the kick to the head in the Dallas game a while back. The league rules for fighting are interesting. what are the rules on coaches talking to the officials about what guys are concerned with when they come off of the field ie holding ect. :!:

This is the nature of football. Its a rough sport.

I dont like how the penalties have effected the way defenses play now. Back in the day you knock the snot out of Qbs. Now you cant even breathe on a qb and you get a flag.

Portis is a warrior he will be fine.

Defend himself from what? His jersey getting wrinkled? There is absolutely never a reason to throw a punch on the field. PERIOD.

What about what the Patriots player did to to the Dolphins player? He should be out for the next season, if Moss gets a suspension.

I agree, but Moss argressively pushed the player. His hand was open. No fist = no punch.

HE WAS BEING HELD!!!!

the fist was not open and the holding was there uh thats football and it is a contact sport so people even redskins get upset moss meant... let go,.
most defensive backs start grabbing when there toasted on those intermediate routes as to save face a home and on the road. usually a quick grab but after a few seconds they get stuck. I only watched at sports center and it only shows moss. not the defense. Im glad portis keep seattle in check good running

You are absolutely wrong. No way he should get fined, suspended nor flagged. Come on man, we're playing tackle football
