John Abraham, is he a FA?

Before Free Agency started I heard Jets DE John Abraham's name mentioned quite a few times. But in the past couple days I havent heard his name once. Does anybody know the status of this guy? Did he resign or was he never even a FA? If he's available i'd like to see him wearing B&G in 2004. I think hes much better than Grant Wistrom.

Join the club

He would be my choice along with Wistrom and Wiley. I haven't heard his name mentioned much and am pretty confused as to why that's so. I hope we get him or GW or MW.

I was wondering how long it would take for the Jets delegation to show up :)

I liked the Jets offer for Bailey okay, but I kinda didn't want to be the Jetskins II. lol

I hear the jets are moving him from de to outside linebacker. Not sure what side but a guy that can play both positions. Thats a big guy that can move. I would rather have had him than Kearse any day. I think the freak is going to cause more problems in philly than he solves. Big contract to a young guy when they couldn't work anything out with Dougles a team leader. Bad for them good for us I hope.

There is also a ton of talk that the Jets won't be able to afford to keep both Abraham and Shaun Ellis.

... the Jets want to move Abraham to LB but they also want to use the move as leverage to pay him less money (DEs make more typically).

Wait, so you think Abraham might get cut? Is that why a lot of people were mentioning his name as a possible FA pickup. Note to SirSmizzy: What do you think will happen to Abraham?

:)

As I and others have speculated - I expect there will be June 1st cuts - I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of diamonds show up amongst the rough out there :)

Yep I think your right Rich when I saw we didn't move in the FA market for a DE I started thinking about June cap casulties. We will have the $$ to sign our picks and a FA in june after a few more cuts(Canidate and ??) Also are we still trying to redo Samuels contract??? Haven't heard anything on that lately??

We also have 3 mil in camp fodder on the roster - DEs, DTs, punters, etc... each running 2-400k per contract. You guys forget we had 55 people on the roster until we signed all these guys - we cut, what? 4? We have added 9-10... folks... we have at least 7-8 people to cut right away to get to 53 men.

We will have cap room to make moves come June 1st. Trust me.

only the top 51 salaries count against the cap. most of the minimum wage guys don't count at all.
