What if Gibbs doesn't win?

I was ask this question by a Cowboys fan of course...I know how you here feel. I have questioned quite a few things since Dec 15th (when the Cowboys shut us out and I got so pissed that I had to go vent somewhere and that's how I found thehog.net) But Joe Gibbs has not ever been one of the things I have questioned. I just said it can't happen he will win period!! The one difference I notice about us, compared to them when Parcells was hired, is that they didn't rely on Parcell himself getting is done...like we KNOW Gibbs will. That stems directly from the fact that Joe Gibbs has been and always will be ours "a Redskins" and Parcells as great as he is in not a Cowboy lifer!!

Whether he wins or not, he is still Joe Gibbs. If Coach Gibbs does not win, everything will be blamed on Dan Synder. Just ask Lenny Fat.and.smelly.

Ha! That's funny. I thought you asked "what if Gibbs doesn't win?" Like that could ever happen.

No this is the one move DS will not be criticized for!! There are 3 or 4 coaches that owners will never get criticized for hiring...Gibbs and Percells head that list. Gibbs losing?? Just won't happen.

Gibbs wins with different QB's and RB's

Parcells wins with different teams (Giants, Patriots, Jets....but it is going to stop with the Cowgirls.

Gibbs will see to it.

joe will make sure this teams family tradition
is restored.
and i repeat i,m cautiously optimistic about everything .
it,s like when you lose a family member for awhile and then that family member comes back cause he really undrstands what it really means to be at home where he belongs again.

not to mention what has been lost these past 11 years.so i think he even realized it as well i,m sure glad dan synder saw the light!

"not winning" is a phrase that's not in Joe Gibbs' vocabulary. HOWEVER, hypothetically speaking, IF he doesn't, and he won't, but IF he does, he will still have my 100% support. In my eyes, the respectability that Joe Gibbs has brought back to the Redskins by virtue of his coming back, is in and of itself, winning!! He's already won, in my eyes!

One thing everyone around here needs to remember....even Gibbs started out at 0-5 when he first came to the Skins. After that awful start, he finished the season 8-3 to end up 8-8. We all know what happened the following year, don't we?

My point: Even if Gibbs starts out 0-5 in 2004, don't be too hard on him. His players have to "buy into" the system before this team will be a JOE GIBBS FOOTBALL TEAM.

That may take some time...but it will happen, trust me!!

CORRECT my above posting!! Joe Gibbs WILL win. Losing is not an option!!!

Joseph Jackson Gibbs could go 0-16 and he'd still have my support. The guy is a living legend!!

Joe Gibbs instantly turned this franchise around when it was at the lowest of recent lows and but just 60 days ago.

He brings a class and dignity to the franchise that frankly, only he can bring. He's not just here to teach the players what community is all about, he's here to teach the whole organiaztion. The wins will follow suit, they always do with Joe.

So I say asking 'What if Joe Gibbs doesn't win' is moot...

... because he already has.

Not only this Boss, but just observe and see how "hard" playres play for him.

After all the player mediocrity I have witnessed for the passed 12 years, my position is that it won't trouble me too much if we don't win at the onset... as long as I see the effort.

And this means (as opposed to previous years):

1. no stupid penalties.
2. no arm tackling.
3. no taking bad angles toward your man when tackling.
4. no freelancing on the defensive side of the ball.
5. no audibling w/5 seconds left on the clock.
5. no coordination between coach and QB.
6. no poor blocking backs/tight ends.
7. no "soft" cover two's when your getting your A$$ handed to you.(/color]

Just a few of the things I'm sure will be minimized by a Gibbs run organization. If not, heads will roll... and fast.

8. No not-knowing the names of players except for the QBs
9. No not-knowing what the defense and special teams are doing.
10. No inarticulate press conferences.

Look at what Gibbs has done for the team and fans already. Nothing this exciting has happened in the past five+ years. The electricity of the off-season will carry over into the season in the form of fan furvor. This in turn makes for a very hostile environment for opposing teams at home. Gibbs knows the fans are the biggest part of the organization and he'll exploit that come September.

He's also led the charge in one of the best off-seasons we've ever had. We filled the gaping holes expeditiously and I expect that we'll have a playoff caliber roster after the draft. Gibbs fever is running rampant in DC.

Gibbs will win because that's his nature. He adapts and molds the team in his own image. Anyone who says "the game's passed him by" easilly forgets the adversity he overcame to make the Skins a dominant franchise.

amen bro!he will adapt ,thats if he hasn,t already done that by now like you have mentioned.

Thanks, Gibbsfan. The fans are going to play the most important role we've seen as Skins fans since our glory days in RFK. Gibbs has intangible qualities that we're familiar with and that's why we're going to be at every home game cheering like we've never cheered before. JKC will never be RFK, but it'll come darn close this season.

Asking "what if gibbs doesn't win " is moot???

Bacause he alreadu won you a SB???

Good thinking....talk about resting on laurels.

Only redskin fans would be happy paying tons of money for a NAME...insted of talent.

SO if gibbs doesnt win ta SB this time a round....you will have paid him all this extra money for a SB he already won?

Way to go.
I think if he don't win....his legacy is tarnished....uyou gave him more than he has ever had before....Coaches ,players ,whatever he needs....he needs to win.

Do you know how to read Smizzy? What people said is that he has already won by bringing back respectability to a franchise in dire need. The team will be a much better football team and that will show eventually. I know its not my place to say this but why do feel a need to bash the way us REDSKINS fans justify JG (and accomplishments that your franchise could only dream of) and then hang around a board full of us. If you dont like it...go to another board. I find you annoying.

I took what you said wrong...You are 100% correct that JG has broughtt respectability to your team.

I thought the threas was talking about winning games.

If its about the intangibles...he has already done it.

If you are however talking about winning...i think you people need to look at it from another perspective.

Gibbs is a HOF caoch...he now will have all the tools he needs to win..so if he doesn't win ...you can see where other people might think thats not good. right?

Smizzy, I hope that statement was made in just...because if you actually believe what you wrote..is doesn't say much about you knowledge of the game! Maybe your to young to remember one of the great coaches of our time, if that is the case, your very fortunate to see the second coming!!

I had Cowboys fans calling and emailing me congrats on getting the great Joe Gibbs back!!

at least we have been to the superbowl since the nfl afl merger.but that must have been before you eeked into exsistence was'nt it?i do'nt care if gibbs does'nt win one more game,he has nothing to prove to any of us.can any of your 2000 jet coaches since weeb ewbank left come close all together to having a record like coach gibbs can?the answer is a huge HELL NO.the jets are the laughing stock of the afc east, they will only get to the super bowl if somebody forefits, and then they would get lost unless a washington redskins pilot was flying the damn plane.

IMO the wins will come. I dont think anyone on this board has expectations of us in the Super Bowl next year. But no matter what...we will be a team filled with players that want to be in Washington and understand their role and assignments. The past few years have been very tough to watch with players freelancing, missing assignments and just flat out playing sloppy football. With JG bringing his philosopy back to the Redskins that should change and I think that will play a big part of us becoming a winning franchise again.
