Watching the Giants/Steelers game, it's going to be tough. The Steelers have an intense, blitzing defense with pretty good secondary. We're going to have to have our A game going.

zorn needs to forget about trying to win the game and just try to get JC to throw as many TD as possible, i need more production out of him in my fantasy league

Yeah, it would be nice if the offense scored more points and played more consistently. They're going to have to to beat better teams like the Steelers next week and others down the road.

But they're still 6-2. That's pretty damn good.

Um, is this for real? 4 penelties and a turnover kept this from being a blowout, which I agree is unacceptible but, its hard to argue with the offensive production today. The stupid mistakes will get us beat Monday though, dont expect us to score 30 in that game either.

Does anyone remember that we are still trying to master this offense? The running game has our grade on a curve. Portis got stuffed today and we threw the ball well. We should be thankful for being 6-2 if we were 4-4 with a few 30 point games and a few duds. I would not be as happy as I am with this team now. WINNING IS THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS!!! ITS NOT THE BCS!!

Portis got stuffed today??? Compared to 175, you are right but I will take 100+ any game. Actually, I remember the commentator saying that Portis would probably not get 100 yards and seconds later Portis ripped off that last run to give him 126. Gotta love the commentators, they speak with absolute authority about things they know nothing about.

Yeah, that was Billick who said that, I believe. I thought Portis ran pretty well today considering the Lions stacked up against the run. Another solid day for him; too bad he didn't get in the endzone though.

I am just saying he had a few big runs on the first drive. Then we were kind of stifled. A lot of tht had to do with some penalties to but, the run game was not consistent and you could see Zorn adjusting to the 8 men in the box.

Yep, take what the Defense gives, thats been Zorn's mantra all year

Result: JC throws for 328 and a TD, hitting 9 different targets.

So the Lions decided 8 in the box was the way to go, CP still got 126 on 24

The Lions blitzed and got burned for a TD.

The point is, this team is very difficult to gameplan against, you cant coach in penelties for the other team, thats what killed us today. You simply dont beat this team by taking away one aspect or one player.

yeah i'm getting sick of winning too....we need to try to throw more TDs....fricken Jason just does not see the field and portis has been getting stuffed all year

in all fairness today special teams is what won this game in the end.......if we'd have kept durant brooks could have easily been a loss

Even though our offense has improved immensely this is still a smash mouth football team.

This team is able to stop the run, also has a tremendous running game. The Passing game is more than sufficient.

Portis maybe having the best year of his career , comprable to the seasons he had in Denver.

This team is still growing as a team. I feel when we get one of the rookie wideouts in the mix this team will really be something.

Portis did NOT get stuffed. Even without that last run, he still would have had 90+ yards, which I feel is still successful. Every game can't be 100 yards.

I think on the point of more scoring is that we need to not sweat every single game, regardless if it's vs the Cowboys, Steelers, or Lions. If we're going to go far in the playoffs, we need to finish drives. I'll take a pick here or there if it's going ot open the offense up. Pushing the ball downfield more opens more holes for the running game. If we can hit two receivers downfield for 30+yds each for every game, I guarantee that the defense will shift back. JC has the arm and this year he has the accuracy. I still feel he's being held back. The only way he's going to get better downfield is for him to throw downfield. Those two balls out of bounds for Moss should have been catches (the second one for sure), but they were too close to the line.

All in all, I'm happy with the W-L record, but we're squeaking by regardless of opposing team talent. We need to open the floodgates and show 'em what we're capable of, b/c from what I've seen, we're no where near our limits.

Very true.

if the team ave. 30 pts per, and we gave up 35pts per....you would be complaining that are D sux...

lets be happy with the W and that we score more points than the other team, i will worry about the 30 pt problem when the D gives up 29 in a game

IF we make the playoffs - So now we are considering how we should be playing IF "we make the playoffs"?

For a start - if we make the playoffs that would mean we have had a very good year.

I'll be very surprised if this team is playing the same as we have seen the past eight games - there will be obvious improvements - "IF we make the playoffs"

We are 6-2 and I think that we are not as good as our record and we definetly are a lot better team than we have seen in the past 3 games. We have a lot of upside and when we play together we can beat any team out there this year. Right now we are still a work in progress and are very lucky to be at 6-2 BUT there are just so many teams giving games away that they should have won, to other teams, that anything is possible.

The giants were about to go behind 17-6 or 21-6 when the Steelers decided that they would commit both really stupid penalties and turn the ball over, etc. etc. The giants would have imploded because that is what they do so well when they are facing adversity - instead the steelers, who are still a better team than the giants decided to give this game to the giants.

we just need to keep playing well and not making the turnovers or mistakes that can cost you the game - it's not that we are much better than the other teams - it's more that the other teams are making a lot of costly mistakes that are costing them games and we aren't.

I still think that there is a good chance that we end up 11-5 or 12-4 and that we will beat the giants on 11/30 now how good is that

we play tough D, and the offense scores enough to win. What else can you ask for? Should we be beating everyone by 20+ points? Personally, I'm happy with 6-2 regardless of how we play.

Next week Steelers, the way we play D and when we get the guys back on that secondary, we should have a great chance. What I saw last night was the steelers collapsed when faced with adversity, if we can fustrate them like we had done with Iggles and Pukes, we should win. These last few games were a holiday. =) time to get back to werk.

Our lack of pressure on the QB is really troubling. A lot of the sacks we do have are really "coverage" sacks. With that, I'm amazed at how teams don't really throw down field on us. I guess that shows how well our DBs have been playing. Even so... we can't give someone like Rothlesburger that kind of time... we brought 7 one time on Detroit and still nobody got there... by the way, where's Marcus Washington been? Seems like he's being used very sparingly... must be pretty gimpy still...

Pitts oline hasn't been protecting Ben. Their bad enough that our mediocre rush should cause some havoc.

Yeah, no way does Brooks return that punt for a TD, like Santana did.
