Surprised to see him end up with the Skins as i thought he was out of football after the Bears released him a couple years back. Solid enough guy, hope he plays a role for you.

Apologies if there is already a thread - I never noticed one.

We signed Michael Green not Mike Brown

Edited thread title... I wish I didn't have to... brown is a top notch safety when healthy.

P.S. Green was traded to Seattle, not cut.

Um, isn't Mike Brown still the Bears' starting free safety?

Mike Green actually played for Chicago for 6 seasons, 4 under Greg Blache.

We have 1 guy with any experience now, and that's Landry, if you even consider that experience. I would imagine that has something to do with it.

yeah i guess, but i mean didnt hamleton have some experience with the browns? but then again mike green did play under blatche so that probably has a lot to do with it as well

The operative word there is "experience."

DOH! I did whiff! For shame! Brown is actually one of my fave players and the guy that REALLY makes the Bears D tick - never mind Urlacher and Harris. But, yeah, I meant Green not Brown - thanks for the edit and covering up my temporary colour blindness.... Actually, a couple years back there was also a Gray that played in the same secondary as Brown and Green. No wonder I'm such an idiot.....er.....I mean, confused.

Anyway, point is, hope he does well for you.

I know little about Green and that only as a result of searches in the media and stats over the last 24 hours. From the little that I have been able to gather, he had a "severe foot injury" and that is why he was released. I am sure he will undergo or he has already undergone a physical exam. Any news about his foot injury? Is he ready to play -now-?

You probably would prefer a player of the "green" variety :P I do agree with your assessment and I just hope the dude can play.

In addition to being a vet free safety, which is important with all our young safeties, he's also supposed to be a strong special teams player. Since Reed Doughty is out, who was a key ST guy, he is supposed to fill in both those gaps.

Hope he succeeds.

I just hope he's faster than Reed. I hate to see our guys get outrun when they have the angle.
