Is he playing hurt or is he deteriorating in performance? He looked bad out in coverage against Witten. One little juke and Witten was wide open. He also hasn't played very well all year. I thought Blades did well for him last week.

I think it's a little bit of both. He probably needs a few more weeks to be at 100% but even at 100%, he's no match for Witten.

I don't see how he ever could. But that's the only matchup (LB-on-TE) where I can even fathom using a linebacker in pass coverage.

I am not so sure that there is any lilnebacker in the league that is a match for Witten.

And what leads you to believe that? Just because he's a Redskin?

he's definitely still hurting... they said last week it'll probably be a few weeks before he's at full speed...

Is there any linebacker in the league that can cover Whitten without help over the top?

Thank you, that's a nightmare match-up for almost any LB

I think I just read that Washington has some kind of hip problem.
I really like Washington, but he has been hurt for a long time now it seems with one thing or another.

That hip is worst that what is being reported. You can see he's not 100% and that it is the hip while he's running. They replayed that play over and over and each time it looked worst.
It's time to shut him down until he is 100%. If he can't get back to 100% then it's time to do something else with him whether that be use him on specific packages or something else. He's been too much of a warrior for us to just cast him aside. I know that the NFL stands for "Not For Long" but give him a chance to get the hip 100% and if he's done, he's done...

I beleive he is banged up. He's not the impact player he once was. Hopefully, he can regain it.

ha some ones in trouble.... but yeah he's getting old, it happends. hes still a solid starter. just not the pro bowler he was when we first got him. i dont think of him as a liability.. most LBs in the league have troubles covering Witten.

I have to say, if there is one position we could definetely use an upgrade at(safety not addressed of course) it would have to be Marcus' Strongs side Linebacker. This defense would be ferocious if we had a big smashing linebacker instead of Marcus who seems to avoid assisting with tackles. BRING BACK LAVARR

Marcus has been one of my favorites for several years now. But there's no doubt he's been slowed by injuries the past two years. I still believe he's got some left in the tank, hopefully he'll get healed and back to smashing QB's and RB's soon.
Fincher is currently behind Marcus on the
depth chart. Fincher was impressive in the preseason, so if Marcus can't go, Fincher and Blades should be able to step in and fill the void.
As much as I see the DL and OL as offseason 'must' needs for next year, I think we'll also need to bolster the LB corps as well.

The fact that he's been hurt the past two years is what I'm talking about. I know he's had hip problems and hammy problems. The point is that he's not at 100% and is a hindrance in his current state.
