Chadwick did this just to get under the skin of Marvin Lewis, who both hates Chad's antics and referred to Chad as "Ocho Psycho" last season.

Legally, by contract, the Bungles are now obligated to put "Ocho Cinco" on Chad's jersey, which will probably give Marvin Lewis a coronary. He should just be glad that Chad didn't go with Ocho Psycho.

Johnson is an obnoxious ass. Here's to hoping that Lewis can figure out a way to completely mess with him. I'm SOOOOOOOOOO glad the Bengals told Danny to shove it.

The Bengals got what they deserved.
They turned down a rediculously exhorbitant trade offer.
They cut their starting running back and their starting left tackle because they had to add cap space to find a wide receiver to replace to one they wouldn't trade, who is now wearing a harness and may or may not be ready to play at some point this season.

Serves the Bengals right, although this is the same kind of stupid FO decisions the Redskins are famous for, so I suppose I should shut up.

me too. was it two first round picks we offered for him? thats just stupid to offer that much for a distraction to the team. the redskins are stupid to have offered it and the bengals are stupider for declining it

Has this been confirmed? Every sports report I've seen since he changed his name has refered to him as "Chad Johnson". It must suck to have all the #85 "Johnson" jerseys reprinted.

I'd be upset if I had saved up to purchase one of his jerseys, only to find out my nameplate would be wrong.

...especially if it were an authentic. My 2 cents

I think that by the time this season is over, the Bengals, the Redskins, Chad Johnson, and a few other people are going to wish that trade had been worked out.

CINCINNATI -- Chad Johnson is no more. It's officially Chad Ocho Cinco in the NFL.

Ocho Cinco

The Cincinnati Bengals announced Thursday that they have begun "the process of listing the former Chad Johnson as Chad Ocho Cinco for all club business, per the legal change of his surname effected in Florida.

"The list of appropriate changes will include Ocho Cinco wearing his new surname on the back of his jersey for Sunday's season opener at Baltimore."

Ocho Cinco officially changed his name to Chad Javon Ocho Cinco in Broward County, Fla., last week. The league had not changed his name on their Web site or the team's Web site.

"It's something I don't think anyone has ever done before," he told the Bengals' Web site last week. "Have I ever had a reason for why I do what I do? I'm having fun."

Two years ago, Johnson gave himself the moniker -- a reference in Spanish to his No. 85 -- and put it on the back of his uniform before a game. Quarterback Carson Palmer ripped it off before the kickoff. After the season, coach Marvin Lewis -- who dislikes Johnson's attention-getting stunts -- referred to the receiver as "Ocho Psycho."

Johnson has been a concern for the Bengals this season. He unsuccessfully lobbied for a trade in the offseason, threatening to sit out if he didn't get his way. When the Bengals refused, he relented and showed up for minicamp, but complained that his right ankle was bothering him.

He had bone spurs removed from the ankle and was limited at the start of training camp. In the second preseason game, he landed awkwardly and temporarily dislocated his left shoulder. Johnson is wearing a harness and expects to play in the season opener against Baltimore on Sunday.

Information from The Associated Press is included in this report
