My opinion? I think they've seen something in Horton even before last night, and then with his impressive display, tied with Stu's not so impressive play, made it an easy decision for them to release him. I also think this kid Kareem Moore has some skill to show as well. I hope he recovers in time for us to see him in preseaon.

Horton was, indeed, heavy duty last night.

I loved me some Horton last night. He was all over the field and played awesome special teams. I would presume this guarantees the job to Reed though. Shwiegerswtszhsesa didn't do anything last night but play weak on special teams and get caught out of his zone and got burned by a 4th stringer.

That's a good point. Correct me if I'm wrong, but on the TD the Colts scored, it appeared, initially, that Tryon got burned. I actually thought they were in zone coverage on that play and Tryon was expecting help over the top, but Stu was out of position and gave up the TD. I definitely thought the TD was the fault of the safety, not the corner.

Yup. Stu got himself suckered by looking into the backfield, bit on the route going down the other sideline... ooops...

That was an expensive screw up for Schwiegert...

I like this move. I think this will help Reed's confidence and Horton proved capable of playing both special teams (the onside kickoff) and on defense (4 tackles, an assist, and 2 sacks)

His release is also on Redskins.com. Guess that pretty much sets Reed in the position barring something unusual. I gotta agree with you guys that Horton was absolutely everywhere last night. With him around, we don't need Schweigart (sp ?).

Schweigert was a mistake... At least they cut him now and didn't have to learn the hard way like with Archuleta. Maybe Horton will be good. I had been hearing good things even before yesterday and he was 1st team all PAC-10 last year.

Horton probably has more skill than Schweigert already. With the way Doughty played they may have to rush this guy into service pretty early.

As for Lynch, 3 words... Please.God.No.

We may have to bank on Tryon becoming a good NB and move Springs to FS... We got secondary trouble to say the least.

No troubles at Secondary. Yes #21 is gone. Landry did not play so we really missed his motor out there. Landry can be our next "center fielder"........

Still wish Sean was around though.........

Hey folks, not sure how many of you actually follow NCAA but the Pac-10 really do have great defensive players and hell, even better offensive players. I'm counting on that last one for our USC guy. Stay tuned...

I was surprised that hey cut him after 1 bad game. There must be something else we don't know about. Horton looked like a beast.

Probably... perhaps he didn't respond well to the "corrections" he got after he was lit up...

I think he was a stop gap until the safeties got comfortable, and Horton looked pretty damn comfortable.

Schwagert sucked plain and simple.

He was horrible on the Raiders and was going to stink it up for our team. So I am glad they let him go. This is what I have been saying ever since the team signed him. Be happy people this is a good thing.

What it says is, "the team is VERY happy with the 2 rookie safeties", and that IS a good thing.

How happy can we be with Moore? He's barely set foot on the field.
