Irvin on Monk...

Ugh... listening to NFL Radio on Sirius a few minutes ago, so, sorry, no link...
I was in the car, so the following is my best recollection... and I really worked hard to remember it... not easy at my age!
Mariucci said (paraphrasing): "Monk is going in late, but only a handful of receivers have gone in since 2000... Mike (referring to Irvin), you even had to wait... "
Irvin responded: "Look, he caught an awful lot of balls... lots of guys do that, but he did it while winning Superbowls. He should have gone in immediately"
"As I was sitting on the podium last year, I was thinking 'what am I doing going in before Art Monk???'"
Blew me away... sure moderates my feeling for Mikey some...

I'm not knocking the speech, but it is typical thank the Lord, thank his family, thank his teammates. What in your mind elevated it to that level? Just asking.

For me is was, during a moment he was being recognized as one of the best in his profession…He spoke about his failures in more important areas of life. He seized the moment to inspire his two sons to be a better husband and father then he was…I believe that those two boys will never forget that moment.

Why get mad about it? He's a Cowboy, he hates the other NFC East teams, that's entirely understandable

Yea, most coke/crackheads usually do cry when they get acknowledged for some good things they've done. Me personally, just me though, I think Darrell and Art's were WAAAAY better speeches than that bamma drug loser user. Oh, and by him saying Art shoulda got in before him has nothing to do with his feelings, that's a damn fact!
No disrespect to you at all DEHog, I'm just venting towards the crackhead.

Didn't we all laugh with Gibbs when he said that blue makes him want to puke, that Dallas has the ugliest fans in the world, etc.?

I still laugh at that one.

I don't see what's objectionable about what Irvin said.

I agree, but I don't see anything objectionable about saying we'd never want him in B&G either.

Don't say that too loud... he's convinced that he is constructed of a super-strong, high-tech, space-age material... he's actually pretty sensitive about it.

You know what, after I hit submit I remembered the many entries "the cup" put up about that. I hope he keeps a "lid" on it this time.
