Joe Flaco flies Southwest

I met Joe Flaco on a Southwest flight back from Denver Wednesday night. He was returning from the rookie symposium. He and three other guys were wear matching Ravens Polos.
He sat down next to me and we started talking. he said that he was on the team, but when I asked him his name, I didn't hear him right and I got "Blackhone" or something. But after saying he was drafted in the first round and that he was a QB from Delaware the light bulb went off.
I said "Wait you said Flacko! I heard something else. I know who you are!"
We talked for a while. He seamed like a nice enough guy. The flight attendant asked him for his autograph and he pulled a Raven visor out of his bag and signed it for her. I didn't ask for his autograph, because, well he is a Raven, but mostly I didn't want to bug him for one when he was trapped with 200 other people for 4 hours.
When the plane landed he stood up and shook my hand and wished me well. By the way, I'm 6'4" and he has to be close to 6'6". I wished him well in his career, but just not when he is playing the Skins. He laughed about that, but I was serious!

I can't help but think of Kyle Boller when I hear of him. Big arm, accuracy issues, one huge year in college, and the Ravens move up in the draft to get him.
Seriously, when people talked about his arm, I kept having flashbacks to how before the draft everyone was saying how Kyle Boller could throw a football through the goal posts from 60 yards...on his knees...

i agree. i think ozzie newsome fell in love with another guy that can throw 80 yds on his knees but cant hit a wide open receiver 10 yards down field. i thought they took him to high anyway. they couldve gotten him in the second round and even if they couldnt get him they probaly couldve gotten chad henne who i think will be a pretty effective pro QB

Bill Simmons noted once that it's somewhat bizarre when you consider the number of people who play professional/semi-pro sports and, from that pool, NFL GMs can't find 32 guys to play the QB position capably. It reinforces the notion that it truly is the toughest position in sports.

I think part of the problem is that owners can't find 32 good GM's.

I'm looking forward to seeing how he progresses with the Ravens. But what deadskins fans fail to realize is that they are basically in the same position the Ravens are in. I can't wait to see the 2 teams play each other. It'll be like watching 2 teams play each other for their first win.

1) Playoff wins will come in time, Romo has plenty of years left in the league. He's only started a season and a 1/2 and brought the team to the playoffs both times. You can't honestly believe playoff loses will continue...
2) Are you seriously comparing Romo to Campbell when there is a thread stating that most of the deadskins fans would love to have washed up Brett Farve in the organization? Laughable at best.

Until he shows otherwise, I will continue to believe that he chokes under the gun. I'll believe that as long as I believe that T.O.'s a crybaby drama queen.

I've seen a few "special" individuals that believe that Favre would be good here, but the general consensus
I've seen is that Favre needs to stay in retirement. He's in a unique position that allows him to be a drama queen, but, personally, it's getting old. Keep manipulating and telling tall tales on a
rival site if you like, but it's a long, steep, uphill trail you won't particularly enjoy with your current stance. You keep cheering for <insert marketing gimmick> America's Team and watch the thugs, crybabies, and choke artists do what they do best....

I agree. I fully believe Brett should stay in retirement. But, there were plenty of notable QB's that behved the same in their time. I think teams that NEED a QB NOW are looking at the possibility. I don't believe the deadskins are one them.

im one of them that doesnt want favre and yes im seriously comparing romo to campbell. you guys act like he has been perfect for his whole career but he sat on the bench for 3 1/2 years so yea becuase campbell is making better progress than romo was at this time in his life im comparing them. And romo has to prove he can PLAY, not just win, in the playoffs which he hasnt proven yet.
1st playoff trip he drops a hold like a retard and the 2nd playoff trip he chokes and throws an interception when hes drivin down field.

This thread has gone just slightly off topic. Favre, Romo, Campbell?
So, how about that Joe Flacco?
I hear he flies SouthWest.
I also hear he might start.

i think starting him right off the bat would be a mistake. if he goes out there and has a couple of first bad games the fans will trash him and his confidence will be gone. im sure this happened to boller but he probaly wouldnt have been anything anyway. i guess they will start troy smith at first.

I don't think Boller has any talent to speak of. He has third string written all over him. And I'd almost bet that by the third loss of the season, we'll be seeing Joe Flacco highlights on SportsCenter. Fine by me. Anything other than Dallas highlights.

yea im kinda sick of the over hyped dallas publicity machine too. i really dont care how he does since he isnt in the conference im just not sold on him being a great franchise qb like the ravens organization thinks he will be. on espn.com it was saying that boller would be the starter and that it was billicks playbook that was holding him back but i doubt that. i just dont think he is any good

I don't agree with starting him either. Look what happend to Boller.... From listening to Baltimore fans conversate, I believe they are just looking for hope. By starting him this season will just let him down and they'll write him off like they do every player that gets there hopes up, and lets them down. I think deadskin fans are rediculous, but baltimore fans are fair weathered. At lease skins fans stick with their no matter what they look like.

Flaco is a great talent. I dont know how he will thrive on a team like the Ravens? What kind of offense does the Ravens have?If he does happen to thrive that will show just how good he is. I actually thought he was the best prospect at QB.

Flacco could be good. You can't judge him based on what he did in College. 4 years down the road we will know the truth. And RAH explain how did Dallas lose that playoff game against the Giants again. Oh yeah Tony Romo threw the ball to R.W. McQuarters. OOOOps he plays Corner for the Giants. Or why Romo does not hold for place kicks any more. Could it be the fact that the last one he did. He dropped the ball twice on the same play? Yes he did.

It is a fact that Tony Romo has given up 2 playoff games. But, does that mean he is a bad QB? I believe you are a successful QB if you can bring your team to the playoffs consecutively. Especially in the NFC East.
