Najeh Davenport cut by Steelers (poll)

Najeh Davenport is available. Kind of like his size/strength as a George Rogers like goal line specialist. Not sure of his price tag though.

Knock it off with the Gibbs crap. He was ineffective here and left us with gaping holes on both side of the ball and aging, injury prone lines. We also have an unproved quarterback. Here are our most solid positions: TE, RB, and backup QB. Everything else is a catastrophe waiting to happen. Zorn has a tough row to hoe and this year is frighteningly dependent on vets not getting hurt, Campbell coming of age, and the merits of inexperienced receivers.
If Campbell can't find open receivers quicker, it's going to be a horrible season. I'd rather Collins started, but even if he does I don't know how we're going to keep the leagues better DL's from burying him.

We have our big guy in Sellers. I can live with that.

I'm taking issue with Fleetus' tag line.

What does that have to do with Gibbs?
Gibbs brought our franchise out of total disarray and laid a solid foundation. Now, Snyder, Cerrato and Zorn need to draft well, stop chasing over-rated free agents and build team unity. A Super Bowl will surely follow.

I personally don't see anything wrong with it. . .

I don't know about you guys but I will pass on him.

Me either. I guess ch1 forgot how horrific it was with Spurrier here...HEROHAMO wrote:Did you guys know Davenport took a dump in one of his girlfriends closet?

Ok, granted, that's wierd. But I don't get it how you draw a line there, and then you're all goo-goo over Colt Brennan who is a convicted felon (for burglary and trespassing).

Those are two totally different types of concerns.

Brennan doesn't appear to give a crap. It appears he has a job.
Davenport, by all accounts, does give a crap, but seeing as how he is still unemployed, we can assume the sentiment is not mutual.
Anyway, Davenport isn't useful in enough situations to warrant his taking a roster space. Mike Sellers fills not only the same role but several others. And assuming Ladell Betts is on the final roster, I doubt he will sit on the bench for the entire season. Between Sellers and Betts, signing Davenport is like bringing T.J. Duckett back. It serves no purpose.

Sellers problem as a runner is that he doesn't have Sellers to block for him.

I'm sure there was a point to this, but I'm missing it.
A player could be a backup QB, P, KR, PR, whatever, and who cares.
It isn't the title of the position that matters.
What matters is what role(s) the player fills.
Sellers fills every role Davenport would be useful for and then some.

This would be GSPODS language for "Oh, he's a RB. Opps, I was wrong about that, but you see my point anyway".

I was mostly poking fun at HEROHAMO (which he knows and takes with a good spirit), but really you can't play the character concern card in this case when you support someone who's had a felony conviction of burglary and trespassing (with another accusation of sexual assault...yay!).
One is far more serious than the other. I'll give you a hint, it's the one that involves the loss of voting rights...
