Paranoid About Pre-season

Hands down we are the un-luckiest NFL team ever. Last year alone gives us that distinction, I mean the ridiculousness of having your best player taken not just from your season but from life itself just boggles me everyday I don't understand why and for what good reason.
With this in mind I recently saw a preview for the Skins Colts Pre-season game on August 3rd and a brief moment of excitement was filled with feelings of worry, I am worried about injuries probably because I have followed this team so closely and the one thing that never escapes these Redskins are injuries. I'm hoping for the best but pre-paring for the worst.

Every team has injuries. Some years more than others. The good teams manage to get through it.

Why did you post it 3 times? Does this mean you are 3 times as worried??? LOL!

Hands down unluckiest is just not true, everyone deals with injuries, what happened to Sean was totally separate from that. Also, not certain what happened but I deleted the other two copies of your post.

You gotta have depth, depth, depth. You gotta draft well. Case closed.

One isolsated incident coupled with a factor that ALL 32 teams deal with does not constitute the sky falling. Give it a rest.

Even if I knew ahead of time that we were in for an unlucky year I'd still be excited to watch. There are always little things, small victories, and moments of classic football that make it worthwhile.

The great part is, of course no one can know ahead of time what will happen. I don't think there's any reason to dread the upcoming season, especially for things that are beyond anyone's control.

Well put. This year we have the talent to contend for a championship, the key is Jason Campbell if he lights it up then look out but when I think about the hiring of Zorn its like the reason Seattle is always in the playoffs with homefield is that horrible division they play in, yeah Zorn helped hasselbeck get to the pro bowl but mostly the cards, saints, and rams helped put him there. I think we should've made GW the coach but whats done is done and I just hope we get this offense down quickly and stay healthy.

What a great idea! I wish I had thought of it. An entire thread dedicated to things to worry about before they have happened. That way, we can all have strokes and die before the season actually begins.

Well, in all honesty the ourlook aint that good: new coach, unproven QB, shaky lineup...

Still, you gotta play em and play em hard!

We made the playoffs winning our last 4 games last yr. The roster starting this season looks quite a bit better than the 1 that ended last yr. We should be fine.

Good news is Portis seems pretty optimistic, he said playoff bound garaunteed. Im looking forward to seeing that Oline all healthy together, and I love the move keeping Buges and the run game from the Gibbs era.

Sky is definately falling, look at all the tornadoes and floods... :( wrong thread.

Last year we had a RB and tackle that didn't practice in the pre-season, once the season started we lost the other tackle and guard. Our #1 WR was nicked up the first few weeks then our #2 when down the #3 was a noshow. As the season progress we went without starters at every postion at one point or another. We almost went as far as having rookie DL starting on the O-line. Lost a starting CB,LB,S in addition to the offensive problems. In the end most of the injuried offensive players got healthy right around the time the strating QB went down.

We didn't see any of that coming.........

And there is no reason to expect it to happen again this year.....

Even if it does the players have been told they will be able to play football and not only will the not have deal with a 700+ page playbook and a DC that thinks it's all about the schemes. They won't have a HoF (Godlike) coach to take the blame for them.

Plus with all we went through last season we got to the post season.

We weren't unlucky last year, except in the case of Sean. It wasn't a shock to see our old guys go down. Management was trying to skirt the issue of our age and frailty-- just trying to get by, rather than providing younger talent. It's doing it again this year. We've had too much interest in glamor positions at the expense of linemen for years. We paid the piper, learned nothing. Here comes another "unlucky" season.

We have Heyer from last year who's a good project and the 3rd round guy Rhinehardt that's supposed to be able to play all 3 interior positions. At least we've done a little. Do I think it's enough? No, but it's still a step up from nothing.

I for one would love to see our starting line stay healthy for like two seasons. They would dominate! I know its a slim chance, and with all the people harping because of their age. I have been watching these same guys for a while now, and I would want nothing more than to see them have a great year.

Yeah, maybe it is a little paraniod to be worring about injuruies so early in the year... but sheesh... we do go down with some rather freakish injuries that do not appear to befall other clubs.

Example: Portis pre-season (best player attempts to "lights-out" someone with nothing on the line; Jansen (Snap!), Thomas's arm tear, Rodgers Knee, JC's knee cap (come on which QB have more freakish injuries... this one and needless to say Theisman's); on and on.

But again, the season will mostly rest on the ARM OF JASON CAMPBELL. West coast offense with a bombers arm... not sure the combination will work... but we have to try, NO?

You said it, So Cal: bomber´s arm in a WCO offense. I really hope JC has succes.

This reminds a lot about the return of Joe Gibbs: the first thing he went out and got and got was HIS QB: Mark Brunell. Pat Ramsey was the incumbent starter, closed the previous season with a good run, and still Gibbs went out and got the guy HE trusted, not someone left behind by the previous coach.

I really, really, really, hope the same thing does not happen to JC...

That would be cool for a Skins record to go in the hall of fame. They could get it trademarked and we could all buy Tshirts!
