Guys I was just wondering, we have such a shortage of draft picks(2) and we desperately need to get some of them back. Is it too late to withdraw our offer for Mark Brunell? Jeff Garcia is certainly as capable as Mark is, they are the same age, but picking up Garcia wouldnt require us to lose our 3rd round pick. I certainly think we should withdraw our offer for Brunell and sign Garcia off of waivers.

sorry,i can't agree with you.garcia has never really shown me much, other than the fact he got
caught drunk driving at a jack in the box.he just has too much baggage to take a chance on.
my guess is he'll end up in oakland with norville.

I like Brunell better than Garcia in gibb's offense. I think Garcia is good, but a different type of QB to fit into the Joe Gibbs system.

Garcia was on massive $$$ we can't afford him if we intend to do everything else discussed here and elsewhere. Besides, the Jags have confirmed the Brunnell trade today.

And Finally, Garcia won't clear waivers... so he'll end up w/a team who finished w/a worse record than the Skins.

That may well be. We also don't have a TO. Garcia is streaky, Brunell is consistent. I don't want Garcia teaching Patrick how to do things. He'll throw a TD pass and think, "What, no sharpies ?"

NO WAY man, Garcia is good. But Garcia is inconsistent. On any given Sunday he plays like a Pro Bowler, and the next week he plays like Drew Brees, He's an upscale Kordell Stewart... Brunell is the clearly the better fit for QB here.

I think the other part of that might be the systems that they are coming from, Garcia from the West Coast predicated on short passing and letting the receivers do the work with YAC, Brunell from what was a run first (when Taylor's healthy), playaction on the deep ball kind of game. Both have shown scrambling ability, but Brunell's talents in those other facets of the game lend towards him being the better fit for a Gibbs offense I think...

Thank you sir, I try to make sense every now and then...sometimes it works, sometimes it don't.

I agree - the west coast offense is tailored totally differently than what Brunell ran under Coughlin... who was by far a more conservative coach.
That was one of the problems with Brunell - their all pro running back didn't stay healthy, and when he went down the team suffered and Brunell got pounded. That is why Gibbs was so happy to announce to Brunell that we got Portis.
With Portis running Gibbs' style of attack, Brunell could be a much better QB, but then again, so could Ramsey

I drool thinking about PRam in Gibbs' offense with Portis in the backfield

To add to that 'noke, not only was Taylor hampered, but the Jags invested a lot in Boselli for quite a few years, which added to Brunell's pounding...
But enuff of the excuses, he's got a new oppourtunity in a new town, time to make the most of it...
