He's here for depth, don't worry about it.

Somehow I doubt that. This guy has been a starter pretty much his whole career. Sure he's not going to carry us to the Superbowl on his back, but he sure won't accept the league minimum either.

I'm from Illinois so all I got to watch was the munsters of the midway. Daniels definitely isn't anything special....sure he's been a starter every year he's been in the league. I really don't see the skins signing him to much more than the league minimum. If we sign daniels we might as well have just resigned Upshaw. So I don't really see him being much more than a depth addition.

I guarantee he gets more than the league minimum.

A DE is as good as his DT.

the guy had a subpar year last year but moving him from right end to left end for the first time had a lot to do with that. he's also big enough to play DT on passing downs so to me, this just means that Zellner likely won't be tendered an offer. Daniels will fill pretty much the same role as Zellner did last year.

You think we are getting this versatile linemen; so that if we get Kearse and he gets hurt this guy can play all overs?

I think it protects us if any D-lineman get hurt, I think he's excellent depth and I hope his contract is in line with that kind of role.
Also Renaldo Wynn has about 2.5 M in signing bonus left to pay out, so while he would be relatively expensive cap wise to cut, after june 1st we could save about $2 M more in cap room in 2004 although it would cost us about $2M in dead space in 2005. No substance to my comment, just pointing out that Daniel's capable of starting at RDE even moreso than at LDE.
he also provides us with a little bit of security if the deals for the big names fall through Snyder's fingertips.
Ahhhh... I'm just kidding. I think the Freak is coming and he will just be more to talk about tomorrow on Pro Football Central (live 8-9

)

I think that if we have Griffin, Coleman, Kearse and Daniels with the Freak and Daniels getting moved back to their natural positions we will have a good line - Kearse at LE and Daniels at RE where they both had better success. Plus Upshaw and Wynn aren't bad players but they suffered from those tackles badly - heck, most of the DTs we had didn't get as many tackles as Daniels.. and he is certainly an improvement over Smith at RE the way he played last year.
If Kearse and Daniels could both get 6 sacks they would equal the entire lines production of sacks from last year...
