Farmers are making record profits. Food prices are too high and rising rapidly. Prices are TOO HIGH for food because I don't want to pay that. We need a windfall profit tax for the greedy farmers. And yet by overwhelming majorities the Democrats leading the pathetic Republicans by the ring in their noses passed more farmer welfare, aka farm SUBSIDIES? What's going on here? George Bush in one of his extremely rare moments of capitalism actually vetoed welfare for farmers making record profits and congress overrode it.
Repeal the farmer welfare and TAX their unfair gains. I know you libs are behind me as you're the driving force there should be no profits much less RECORD profits from things that other people need as the greedy farmers are doing. And what's more basic to our needs then food? Record profits for farmers are just uncalled for when people are hurting out there. We must end this NOW! Write your congressman! DEMAND we pass a windfall profit tax on farmers today!

Without farmers, we would have no grain alcohol. No whiskey. No Bourbon. No Vodka. No Gin. No fruit liquors, including schnapps, brandy and creme de anything, and no beer. And I would have no tobacco products.
Subsidize them all they want.
Eliminate the defense budget and give the money to farmers for grain, fruit and tobacco production, I say.
The government is obligated to allow me to continue to feed the addictions the government allowed me to have in the first place.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to have a Beam and Coke, light up a cigarette, and ponder the world wonder that is the American farmer.
Of course, being a Strict Constructionist, I actually believe in elimination of all subsidies. Let them sink or swim in the free market, along with everyone else.

Kas, you tell me before that, Gas prices should go up because of inflation. Why is your stance different with food?
I have to dissagree with you on this one. That may be true for SOME farmers. I'm friends with a Dairy farmer, and he makes very little profit from it. Well, I know the old mans son. He works with me, and don't really have any plans for taking over the family bus when the time comes because, he makes more money now, AS A CHEVROLET SALES MANAGER than his family makes running a farm.

Don't you know that people are hurting out there? And people need food to live. Don't you think it's greedy for farmers to be making record profits when people need the food to live? I mean we don't have to have oil and gas to live, but we need food. If people are giving up gas to eat at least they are alive, but if they give up food they die. Government needs to take their record profits away from the farmers for their greed and the way to do that is through taxes. Then we can give that money to the people who need it.

I hope you realized I was being facetious on taxing the windfall gains for farmers. In reality only government provides windfall gains because windfall gains can only be created by market manipulation which can only be done using government power enforced with government guns. Making money in a competitive market is efficient, not windfall. Though I was serious in terms of opposing the farmer welfare the People's Democratic Party just rammed through with the support of the useless Republican party.
