The Redskins have signed a pair of Maryland undrafted rookies in tight end Jason Goode and offensive lineman Andrew Crummey, the team announced on Thursday.
Goode participated in the Redskins' mini-camp on May 2-4 as a tryout player. He impressed coaches with several catches in on-field work.
Goode, 6-3 and 238 pounds, is regarded as a solid pass-catching tight end. He played in 38 career games with the Terrapins and finished with 36 catches for 401 yards and three touchdowns.
Last season, Goode played in all 13 games, with four starts, and caught 17 passes for 213 yards and three touchdowns. He had a career-long 78-yard touchdown catch against Georgia Tech.
Crummey is a 6-5, 301-pound lineman who was a three-year starter at right guard for the Terrapins.
He earned second-team All-America and first-team All-ACC honors as a senior last year despite suffering a fractured fibula midway through the 2007 season.
Overall, Crummey had 36 career starts for Maryland. He helped open holes for Terrapins running backs Keon Lattimore and Lance Ball, who combined for nearly 1,600 rushing yards. Crummey also earned All-ACC honors as a junior.
Crummey had played in the 2008 East-West Shrine game but he fractured the same leg again.
Before his injuries, Crummey was regarded as a top offensive line prospect heading into the NFL Draft.
Both Goode and Crummey played alongside current Redskins offensive lineman Stephon Heyer and quarterback Sam Hollenbach.

Anyone know anything about his estimated recovery time?

Goode sounded impressive in the weekend camp.
But the Crummey signing is great. If he can get healthy he could push for a starting job. He was a very possible second round draft pick before two fractures in his leg. He was considered the best lineman on the Terps and started since he was a freshman. We saw what heyer could do last year and if Crummey can get healthy he could be part of the solution to our old line.

I wouldn't expect him to compete for a starting spot this yr, but in Crummey & Rinehart, we could have our next starting guards for quite a while.

I assume he passed a physical before he was signed.

I am a big fan of Crummey. Even if we sign him and stick him on IR, we'll have a good interior lineman for Buges to groom. Hopefully, he can stay healthy.

This kind of sucks.
"If our O-line this year can stay healthy we will be in good shape this year"
"If our undrafted rookie FA can Get healthy we will be in good shape"
Dang!!!!!!

To the optimist, it could be a crummey signing that turns out to be a goode one.
