In my opinion if we have to spend a lot of money on a wr i ould throw it at this guy out of the "big three" williams, johnson, boldin...

he is a straigh up difference maker with the ball in his hands.

Anybody remember the wild game last year when he happened to have two td's?? I do, he is legit.

He would definitely cost us at least one draft pick. He's under contract so if we were to try and get him it would likely be similar to the deal that the Bengals rejected.

There is absolutely ZERO chance of the Cardinals releasing Boldin. He's only 27 years old and one of the best receivers in the NFL. Cap trouble or not, the only way the Skins (or any other team) get Boldin is via trade.

I only hope that if we get involved with a trade it is for a young player and that player has to be able to help this team.

There must have been some reason why we have been so patient this off season. We are a team in transition and we have to get younger players in here that can hopefully help us this season but definetly provide the depth we need at so many positions where we have quite a few talented but older players.

We should not be trying to add 1, 2 or even 3 players - this team needs 5 or 6 young players that are capable of being very good players for this team in the near future. When you combine that with next year's draft of 5 or 6 similar players, we are suddenly a very young and very good football team.

We do not need a very good WR more than we need to get younger at a number of positions and we may need to take 2 drafts to do that.

Now, if Cerrato is not able to locate the type and quality of players this team needs then that is a whole different problem - Cerrato is meant to be unbelievable at locating talented players - let's see him show that and that should not include giving away any of those first 4 picks. Cerrato needs to get us 4 really good players with those picks OR guys that will be very good back-ups.

To get 2/3 of your draft picks to become productive in any given year is really expecting a lot. I'd settle for 4 out of 9, obviously hoping for a better %. Not everyone can pull 'em like the Giants did last year.

True especially since 1/3 of our picks are in the 7th round.

I have a secret inside sourse that told me Swoop the Eagles mascot is also unhappy with his current contract that runs through 2012. Drew Rosenhause is Swoop’s agent and knows the Redskins, Dolphins and Browns organizations are all willing to pay over market value for his services(sounds like tampering to me). Apparently Joe Banner signed Swoop back in 2005 to a 7 year deal that Swoop and Rosenhause feel he has outperformed(Banner saw his talent early and locked him up). This is what happens when the salary cap keeps increasing at such large percentages every year.

Now I do not want to stoke up any rumors here but I just love it when a team does not reward a player that deserves it and then the player leaves and gets rewarded elsewhere. I'm not advocating anything except that, IMO, teams' need to reward players who have shown that they are better than the contract that they signed for.

Here's the scenario - Boldin signed a 5 year deal a few years ago and then went out and had 2 great years - the "other" WR Fitzgerald signed a pretty good deal last year and deservedly so, he also has been fantastic. Boldin is not asking for anything based on Fitzgerald's deal, he wants to be rewarded for what he has done and wants to stay in Arizona. The team, recently has (reportedly) agreed to "do something". Now they are saying that they just simply cannot do anything at this time. We know they are strapped but they also knew that when they told Boldin that they would figure something out. That is just BS and the team should work something out to make this guy happy - we all know that something could be done and in my opinion, this guy has earned it on the field.

ANYWAY - I hope he plays as hard as he says he will and has a great season for Arizona, but, as they have reneged on the indications they have given him, I hope as soon as possible he leaves and signs elsewhere.

I love it when teams get screwed for not treating players fairly.

I know that this is a business but I guarantee that the players get the bad end of deals much more often than the team's do.

part of the problem also is that there is a perception that the player's are getting too much money - this is also BS - last I looked, it seems to me that the owner's are making a lot more than the players.

I've always liked the idea of a salary cap break for signing your own players, like in the NBA. Something like a 10% reduction in cap hit for the highest paid player re-signed in each year. While parity is a good thing, so were the good old days, when you didn't have to root for all new guys every year. Granted, the Redskins have been pretty good with this the last few years.

If you think about it, that's basically just a different cap calculation. I'm making up these numbers, but say cap is 60% of revenue and your calculation adds 2% to that making it 62%. You could just raise the cap to 62%, same thing. Or you could cut the cap to 58% so you have the 2% addition for your calc and it nets out the same.

I'm not arguing for or against your idea, I'm just saying in the end the owners and players are negotiating a cap based on % of revenue and your idea's going to end up being a different way to calculate the cap. The owners aren't going to somehow forget to include the 2% (in my example) in the calculation.
