The Redskins have re-signed fullback Nehemiah Broughton, the team announced on Wednesday.

Broughton had entered the 2008 offseason as an exclusive rights free agent, but he was not tendered a contract. As a result, he became an unrestricted free agent.

Broughton returned to Redskins Park on Wednesday and signed a deal to stay with the Redskins.

Broughton will look to compete for a roster spot behind starter Mike Sellers.

First-year player Pete Schmitt is the only other fullback on the Redskins' roster.

Broughton, the Redskins' seventh-round draft pick in 2005, suffered a knee ligament injury in a mini-camp last year and was sidelined for the season.

He has played in one NFL game in three seasons, recording two special teams tackles in the Redskins' 2006 season finale against the New York Giants.

Broughton played his college ball at The Citadel, the same college that current Redskins' assistant head coach-running backs coach Stump Mitchell played at from 1978-81.

Sweet. I always liked Nemo. Hope he can stay healthy so he can give himself a legitimate chance. Fullbacks are definitely a predominant feature in the WCO. Wasn't it Byner that has high on this kid and urged the higher-ups to draft him?

I liked Nemo also. Must be mistaken though, I always thought he was a HB.

He is big enough to be a FB...besides, we are good at the HB position. I like the move...

He was a RB in college. We converted him to FB as a rookie.

That's not stocky. That's wider than he is tall. That's 3.6lbs per inch of height. That's a bowling ball with feet. That makes Mike Sellers look thin.

OK. I've exaggerated enough. That's one large man.

ROFL, I've only seen a handful in the whole NFL that make Sellers look thin, and they're usually DT/NT .

Trust me - no one makes Sellers look thin. You gotta see this guy in person to appreciate it.

Does Sellers have two arms or four legs? Those things attahed to his shoulders look like ham hocks.

He's listed as 284#. That's bigger than most DE's.
