If you mean Ty Law, I think so. I also think he's over the hill.

Did Law even play in the NFL last season?

Law started all 16 games for the KC Chiefs.
47 tackles, 2 interfceptions, 13 passes defended, 0 Sacks

He is 34, and needless to say, the Chiefs aren't defensive gurus.
At 4-12, Law probably had the opportunity for 100 tackles.
The Chiefs defense had to be on the field most of the time with that record.

On the positive side, the Skins need an insurance cornerback, and there aren't any with as much game experience as Ty Law. If he came reasonably, I think he'd be a good insurance policy.

We are going to need to add to our CB depth. I'm sure that position will be addressed but I'm also sure that if we add a player that is at the end of his career it will be important to add a player who is good to have as a mentor as well as an ability to contribute on the field.

We already have Sean Springs, we don't need any more old schoolers...

Vinny said that Carlos prob won't be ready until mid season or even later. He said that the CB position would be addressed but that they are not going to be throwing money around. He said that he is looking for a guy that they can get cheap and have him come in and prove himself, then get paid. Thats what I want to hear.

I've heard early Oct for Rogers. I don't see CB as being among our 4 biggest needs. I see tham as WR, DE, OL depth, & S depth.

Then I guess it's good we have more than 4 picks this year.

Yeah. I keep forgetting we have at least 6, probably 8 or 9 total. I can't even remember the last time we had so many picks in 1 draft.

I agree but IF Rogers is not going to be really contributing until after half the season I do not think we will be putting someone back there that has not been around - these guys are normally "older" and I hope we locate someone at a fair $ figure to come in and show that he can still help - that is what good scouts are for - finding the players that make your team better and that is something Cerrato and his "team" have to do a whole lot better at both in the draft and filling the "holes" that we were not able to do through this draft.

I hope we draft a CB but I wonder if anyone out of college that is not drafted in the top 75 (we are not drafting a CB with our first 2 picks) is going to be effective the first 8 weeks of his NFL "life".

I'm still wondering if Byron Westbrook will make the team and contribute. Didn't Westbrook recover a fumble in the endzone for a TD in the first preseason game last year? I'm still hoping he develops.

From the WP in June 2007 wrote:Byron Westbrook has made a strong impression on several of Washington's veteran defenders and, though facing a multitude of proven competitors for a roster spot at defensive back, will be someone getting lots of attention come training camp.

At this point, I think Eubanks is ahead of him on the depth chart since it was Eubanks who was activated for part of last season. The only advantage I see that Westbrook has is size. He's listed as 194# to Eubanks 173#. Eubanks is a good return man as well.

I have to think the only reason Eubanks was promoted from the practice squad over Westbrook is because Eubanks had been here for a year longer and was more familiar with the system. Westbrook was a rookie. I'm not real high on Eubanks. He's not starter quality and was getting beat on a regular basis. I actually believe even Torrence has better cover skills than Eubanks. I seriously hope Westbrook can out perform both in camp this year. I don't expect Westbrook to become a starter immediately, but hopefully a solid back-up that can get a chance to make a name for himself. Even though he played at a Division III school, Westbrook was a damn good corner and has excellent speed. He made a good impression last year in camp.

During the course of his collegiate career at Salisbury, he was named first-team All-Atlantic Central Football Conference twice as a cornerback...A senior in 2006, Westbrook played in 11 games at both cornerback and free safety...On the season, he finished with 33 tackles (27 solo) 3.5 tackles for loss and five interceptions...He also returned kicks, taking one back 83 yards for a touchdown on Oct. 14...Named co-ACFC Special Teams Player of the Week thanks to that performance...On the season, he returned 22 kickoffs for 506 yards and one touchdown...As a junior in 2005, he played in 11 games totaling 49 tackles (35 solo), four tackles for loss and five interceptions...He also returned 30 kickoffs for 845 yards, which earned him second-team all-conference as a return specialist...As a sophomore in 2004, he racked up 56 tackles (32 solo), four tackles for loss, eight interceptions and one fumble recovery...He returned one interception 80 yards for a touchdown against Buffalo State...He also returned 20 punts for 288 yards and two touchdowns, which earned him first-team all-conference honors as a return specialist...He attended DeMatha Catholic High School in Maryland

This has to be accurate. I think they see a ton of talent and potential in this young man, and see him as a worthwhile project. His pedegree doesn't hurt him any, either.

That's possible. I can't read minds, I just go by what I see.

This is why I believe he gets special attention. Brian is no average Joe...

What special attention? Again, even though he played at Salisbury, he was impressive, nonetheless. I don't think the Skins have given him any special attention, as it's apparent he'll have to earn a roster spot.

(risking the flame gods) IMO Sean Springs is better than Ty Law. We need a young guy to step in there.

I never said everything's on a silver platter. I think it would be safe to assume that there's a little different consideration for him due to the talent of his brother and to positively say there's not would be naive. I'm not saying that Brian's accolades are a free ride for Byron, but it does give scouts/FO something to extra ot consider.

His pedigree may have gotten him the 1st look. After that, he has to do it all on his own.

It's possible a team could consider the blood lines or the genes so to speak - in my opinion it would be really a waste of time as it matters not. No one can convince me that a brother's ability is going to affect how you judge a player - the true value or potential value of a player can only be measured by what he potentially offers to your particular team - not what his brother or blood relative does or has done.

case in point is the Manning brothers - talk about talent and no talent

I think Eli is finally coming around... we'll see if it was a fluke or not this year. Aren't the Barbers a good example, or maybe Mitchells, or maybe Landrys......
