CANTON -- The Cleveland office of the National Action Network will ask NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to cancel the Aug. 3 NFL Hall of of Fame game between the Indianapolis Colts and the Washington Redskins.
NAN President, the Rev. Al Sharpton, said the cancellation request is in response to a lack of response from Canton Mayor William J. Healy II regarding NAN's previous allegations of police misconduct in the Canton police department.
Personally, I'd be fine with it. That extra preseason game, coupled with the Skins injury history? Count me out.

Al Sharpton is a bag of hot air. I wish he would give it a rest already.

Yes, but he is entertaining. I used to like Jesse Jackson before he started taking himself too seriously. Jesse had the line of the Mondale, Hart debate when they were literally arguing about the TIME they "came out against Lebanon." Jackson said "you're pulling the same cart and arguing about who's pulling it faster. Why don't we discuss things we actually disagree about?" Of course liberals DON'T disagree about anything, but that's another story.
Too many years of people telling him how great he was and ignoring his lies and corporate blackmail and Jesse sadly lost his appeal. But Reverend Al is a hoot. I think it's sad so many people can only listen to people they agree with. I don't mean you sch1977, this is only one opinion and there are definitely people I don't really care what they think. Right now black racist apologist Obama would come to mind.
But generally, I love to listen to the left, like Air America, Sam Greenfield. The Right, Rush is the best on that side followed by Laura Ingram. Sean's too much of a pom pom Republican for me. And of course Libertarian Neal Boortz. It is so much fun to hear all sides. Even people like Al Sharpton who I agree with on pretty much nothing. Just an opinion.

So, Sharpton is upset about misconduct in the Canton police department. What the hell does that have to do with the NFL and a preseason football game?

It has to do with getting his name in the press. I said the guy's entertaining, but the guy's totally a publicity whore.

Don't leave Louis Farrakhan out of this. That's discrimination.

Yeah he's screwed up from time to time, but Al Sharpton has spent his entire life as an advocate for black people in America. Get over it.

You mean back in the good old anti-semetic days when he was calling New York "Hymietown"?

Shakedown Artist is not a job, it's a way of life
Al is trippin' on this one, the HOF game ain't got nothin' to do with whatever the cops in Canton are doing. Boycott the Policeman's Ball, stand out in front of it with picket signs, that would be more effective.

Al Sharpton does more to hurt race relations than help them. He is one of the biggest racists out there, and he doesn't want improved race relations between whites and blacks.
That would put him out of a job...

Sharpton is sure good at stirring things up and it's pretty evident on this board how much attention he can command with his antics. He sure has every right to do that, and it's your choice whether or not you want to pay any attention to it.

What gives Al Sharpton the right to mix his political agenda with NFL business. I don't know what corruption the Canton police department have, but it can't be any different then New York City or any other large metropolis. Those players have waited their whole life to be inducted into the hall of fame and should not be compromised because of some activists personal "axe to grind" with a local police department. There are
qualifed professionals that are responsable for corruption allegation investigations. In laymans terms "get a life"...

Yeah... old Al is all about "the cause". How about slander? How about deliberately perpetuating racial angst in order to increase his own stature?
Remember Tawana???As time went on, the public grew increasingly skeptical of Tawana Brawley's charges and the ill-advised tactics of her handlers. When Tawana's mother was subpoenaed to appear before the grand jury and failed to do so, a warrant for her arrest was issued; Maddox, Mason and Sharpton took her to the Ebenezer Baptist Church in New York City and organized a rally, hoping (in vain) that the authorities would force their way into the church and seize her. Two of Sharpton's associates quit, claiming the reverend had known all along that the case was a hoax. Other black leaders criticized Brawley's advisers -- Ray Innes of the Congress of Racial Equality and attorney Conrad Lynn among them. They feared the hoax and the antics of publicity hounds like Sharpton would prove detrimental to the cause of racial equality.
Yeah, Riggo... you jump right on that Sharpton train.
Oh... and Al? Just go away. You are not relevant.
