Does anyone else get the feeling that...

A lot of our free agents might go to Jacksonville?
I have heard numerous reports of Randall Godfrey, Pierson Prielou, Todd Collins, and others think about signing with the Jags because of their ties with G-Williams.
Not that any of the above mentioned names are special, but they were key role players in getting us to the playoffs this year. I hope that there aren't a lot of players that defect to the Jags.
May be I am over reacting to a bunch of meaningless reports....

Godfrey is old and we need to add some youth to our linebackers. Losing him wouldn't be much of a loss. As for Prielou, good riddance. Watching him try to cover is beyond painful.

Prielou is a valuble backup at a position where we are very thin. I don't see Godfrey as a major loss.

I can't believe we lost Gregg Williams, THE DEFENSE CARRIED US to the playoffs, Cerrato and Danny just are selfish little punks.

You are still talking about Greg Williams? Build a bridge and get over it. What did the defense do before Sean Taylor died?

They played very well and kept us in games that we could not finish.

Godfrey filled in well but he can bounce if he wants...We'll be fine there...
And if you don't want to be a Redskins...Jump on 95 South baby.....
P.S. Is anyone alarmed at Zorn's sub-par athletic upbringing and overall "girly" sports selections in college? Just doesn't seem too tough!

No.
The head coach's job is to strategize for games and to prepare, motivate and discipline players. Every coach has a different leadership style, and many different leadership styles can be successful.
I think that Zorn's high school and college athletic upbringing 3-4 decades ago is irrelevant.

No. I think starting 106 games as an NFL quarterback, the bulk of that time playing QB for an expansion team, is enough to say he's a tough SOB.

That's exactly right. And Holgrem doesn't recruit or work with a bunch of pansies. Holgrem and Andy Reid were talking about Zorn the other day on the NFLN and had some pretty interesting and positive things to say about Zorn. They both think Zorn is the type that will earn instant respect with his leadership and will be a solid head coach.

Zorn was the prototype the football gods used for Favre. If he had played for almost any team but the expansion Seahawks, he would have been Favre. He was screwed in much the same way Archie Manning was.
If that's not tough enough for you, then you have a problem.

To heck with GW and who follows him. He's no longer a Skins!
Have faith in the Z-Man.
Sure the hiring was absurd . . . yep GW was sadly screwed . . . but watch his interviews on Redskins.com and tell me that there isn't something oddly likable about the guy.
He reminds me a TON of George Allen - a quirky, rah-rah, workaholic with strong opinions about work ethic.
After watching his interviews and reading up on him, I have the feeling that out of all the possible candidates, Z-Man was the one gamble that could turn out to be brilliant.
Snyder went All-In with a pair of dueces gambling on the Z-Man. Maybe it'll be brilliant? Maybe it'll be Smith, George, Carrier, Sanders in brilliance. But I have faith.
All Hail the Maroon and Black!!!!!!!

I agree WIth Prileoua (sp), he couldn't cover Flozell Adams in a post. Godfrey, on the other hand, filled in nicely at LB when we needed him. He'a quality depth which we need. Rocky may not be 100% at the beginning which thins our ranks. Keep 'em another year I say.

They played very well and kept us in games that we could not finish.
And they played bad enough to not finish games. Doesn't the defense have anything to do with the record number of 4th quarter blown leads? I'm not saying it's the only reason, or even the main reason we lost those games, but shouldn't they shoulder a lot of the blame? Take the rose colored glasses off.
As for GW...Don't forget about fielding one of THE worst defenses in the league in 2006. Oh and how about making an aweful decision to bring in Archuleta. Oh and how about running Lavar out of here, and Pierce, and Clark. If he was SOOOO good, why didn't he get one Head Coaching offer this year, or last.
Get over it. His upside was minimal. Zorn's is unlimited right now.

how about his D winning key games in '05, including a palyoff game when the offense coulkdn't move the ball. Yah his guy's backs are sore for carrying this team.

I think that dead horse told us that the Offense couldn't keep the Defense off of the field, THAT'S why we blew those leads. The Defense was just plain tired b/c the Offense was doing nothing but 3 and out...

I'm w/CH44 on this!
Does giving up 4 TD to TO or or TD's in 9 plays to Philly count as not holding up their end. (Yeah I know it was shorly after ST went down, but those two are on them) (but the Skins had a 5 minute advantage in Time of Possesion in the Philly game)
Just like if they had lost the Cardinals game that would have been on the D. giving up 13 points in the 4th 1/4. Or how about letting the Giants score 21 points in the second half when the Skins had a three minute time possesion lead in the first 1/2. The D also let the Giants hold the ball for all but three minutes of the third quarter when they were better rested than the Giants going into the 1/4.
Was the O to blame for some of the second half losses, sure, but the plain simple fact is if the O gives you a 4th 1/4 lead you shouldn't give it up! I don't care if the O goes 3 & out each series in the 1/4.

the offense and the defense both sucked at times last year. and at other times they were great. welcome the NFL.
but that was last year. i thought we were done complaining about last year? i know i've moved onto complaining about the Wizards and their crappy play.
We just have to forget what happend last year cuz none of it really matters now. We have a new coach and a new system this year and anything can happend. I'm pretty optimistic about this team for the long run, the next year wont be that good i'm guessing but at least we'll have the groundwork for a succesful team. we just gotta build on it

Have you completely lost your mind? The Cardinals game? That was a perfect example of our offensive futility and overly conservative playcalling with a lead. If we would've lost that game it would've been 100% on the offense. All you have to do to see that is look at our 4th quarter drive chart on offense...
3 plays, 8 yards gained....punt
3 plays, 5 yards gained....punt
3 plays, 4 yards gained....punt
Our offense was so inept in the 4th quarter of that game that we gave the Cardinals great field position and our tired D was overmatched by that point. In that game we had the ball 10 times and 6 of those drives ended in 3 plays of less. No way can you blame that on the D.

How about the D giving up only 3 points to the Giants in the first half only to see the offense get shut out in the second half? How about the offense starting the second half by going either 3 and out or turning the ball over on its first four possessions? How about the offense not being able to punch in the ball from the 2 yard line at the end of the game and stupidly running the exact same play on 3rd and 4th down with Betts instead of CP?

Andy Reid went from being a QB coach straigt to a Head Coach and the Eagles have done just fine, ditto with the Mooch and 49ers.
Hiring Zorn is not as idiotic as it was to hire Spurrier. Zorn has a fifty/fifty shot of succeeding. Is it to much to ask to at least wait for the season to start before we start the hate campaing against him?
