News about Skins from Combine

Jason was named the starter for the 2008 season, and Antwaan is being moved into the slot. Jimmy Z is trying to get a WR through the draft/FA that can fill that #2 spot.

He said that its good for Jason to know this now as opposed to trying to make the decision after camp. Additionally, Todd will most likely be re-signed as backup. When the reporter said "and the Redskins will have another change on the offensive side of the ball" I got really excited and thought we were going to cut MB....but he said the thing about ARE...oh well, a guy can hope, right?

I find it amazing that folks still hate Mark B. When we were ending the regular season and going into the playoffs with Jason hurt and not available and Todd leading us...I was very happy to see Mark as our #2 at that point. Can you imagine Todd going down in the playoff game and asking Hollenbach to come in and lead us vs. the Seahawks?

Be happy we have a capable #3 versus a rookie who we have no idea how he'll do. Plus, Mark was not pushing to play, he's a quality guy who probably helps Jason by being there. I never heard anything about Mark being disruptive...did you?

Get off his back...jeez!

I agree with you, I think that Brunell handled his role very well. Of course, he wants to start, but he knew that Jason was the number 1 and he accepted his mentor role with grace and did not become a huge distraction.

I don't hate Brunell; I hate his cap number. If we pick up a 23-year old 3rd string QB he will cost us something like 300k over the next year.

Brunell's 2008 cap hit? As best as I can tell, it's in the neighborhood of $6 million.

Isn't he a UFA this yr? If so, he shouldn't cost much to resign. That said, if Collins stays I think he goes.

I'm pretty sure Brunell's contract is voidable at this point, but someone might want to check me on that. That would make his cap number 0 I think. Could be wrong though.

I don't hate MB. I don't like having two over the hill guys behind a young QB like JC. Yes, at 36-37, I consider them over the hill. Let's not throw out exceptions that prove the rule like Favre....

From what I saw last year, Collins has a ways to go before he is "over the hill". And if Jason doesn't step up, he might gat another chance.

this makes me think of the good ol days when every thread turned into a brunell thread
