The original deal with the two organizations was due to expire after the 2009 season. So sorry to the dedicated fans of 2K's gridiron line -- it looks like Johnny Ballgame is gonna keep everyone on the NFL bench for much longer than initially expected.
Looks like I won't be buying anymore football games anytime soon.
This is ridiculous. With no competition EA has no reason to make any improvements to the series...so they don't. I don't know about any of the other platforms, but the "next-gen" Madden for Xbox 360 doesn't even have Madden in it (except his picture).
The play-by-play is a joke, the AI is predictable, the gameplay is lousy, the motion capture hasn't been updated in 5 years, and the graphics haven't even really improved all that much.
I was looking forward to this exclusivity agreement expiring...so much for that.

If you don't like it don't play it. I love the Madden games and there has not been any football games that have come close to the Madden games. The 2k series sucks a**

I actually enjoyed the 2K series a lot more than I do Madden. Competition is good for EA because it causes them to try and make a better game. Instead, the just rehash the same old graphics engine and add
"this years roster." All of the talk may be irrelevant because EA is trying to buy out "Take Two." If that happens, that could possibly mean Madden4Life.

Is "Take Two" who makes the 2k series of games? that would be a shame because the NHL and college bball games they make are leaps and bounds ahead of the EA versions. I always liked Madden better though.

I actually liked both Madden and 2K. I typically alternated between the two from year to year as each game would step up with new features, like the franchise and owners modes.
When Madden went next-Gen, I cut them a little slack for cutting a few of their features to compensate for making a dazzling graphic game. I even forgave them for eliminating the Al Michaels play-by-play for a guy who sounded like a radio broadcaster.
My problem is that NCAA 08 crushed Madden 08 in every concievable way...and I hate college football. I loved the game, I loved the play-by-play, the graphics and player animations were all spectacular...and then Madden came out...and was utter crap in comparison.
I blame myself for this as much as anyone. I've been contributing to this as much as anyone, but after playing NCAA I realized that EA CAN make a decent quality football game, with next gen graphics...they just don't want to.
They have no reason to. Suckers for the Madden brand name, and anyone that wants to play an actual NFL Licensed game is going to have to play Madden, so why bother putting money into improving a game that people are going to purchase anyway.

Yep as long as there is Madden, curse continues!
