Bill Lazor To Seattle; Jack Burns Is Gone; Redskins Never Contacted Grimm
Redskins QB Coach Bill Lazor acccepted an offer to take the same job with Seattle, league sources said, after spending a few days in Seattle interviewing. Lazor was not going to retain his title here.
Jack Burns, who coached the QBs here in 2004 and was an offensive assistant the other three years, has cleared out his office and is no longer with the team, league sources said. Bob Saunders left earlier this week, so the team has extra positions to play with. However, league sources said the staff is not expected to grow much om the offensive side, with new OC Jim Zorn perhaps bringing in one younger coach to assist him.
Don Breaux, another longtime Joe Gibbs coach, remains with the team in what will likely be a consulting position. Joe Bugel, the other member of the staff who dates back to Gibbs 1.0, coaches the O Line as he has the last 4 years. (He had a helluva year last year, by the way, with that unit).
On the defensive side, the Redskins still will fill the vacant D Line position. They interviewed Larry Brooks for the job over a week ago but he was not offered it and is not expected to get it at this point, sources said.
Also, as much as it would make sense to many of us, former Redskin player and coach Russ Grimm, a stud O Lineman and an assistant coach with Arizona, has never interviewed for this job and has not been contacted to do so, league sources said. One of owner Dan Snyder's planes is en route to Phoenix, according to flight tracking software, which may or may not be related to the fact that Jim Fassel lives in Scottsdale.
Some have speculated that Grimm, who lives in Pheonix now, may be destined to get on that plane, But league sources said the Redskins did not contact Arizona for permission to speak to him and if the plane is there for him, well, it's news to him.
Maybe it's landing for a round of golf. Maybe someone in ownership left his wallet in Pheonix at the Super Bowl and they're flying back to pick it up. We can only guess for now.

What is this strange sense of dread creeping over me...?

You have to get to a level of nonchalance about the whole thing like me? I mean.... I'm not even mad, I've laughed through the entire thing. I'm used to the mediocrity at this point, accept it, embrace it and it becomes easier. Lets W's become unexpected surprises instead of expectations.

Don't let this team run you into an emotional rut like I used to, I got downright depressed before.... Not anymore.

Thanks Chris. I like your version of "serenity now".

Please Lord, let this not be true. Tell me the plane is actually in route to California to pick up Mariucci and it merely has to fly over Arizona to get there.

I'm praying that Snyder had an epiphany and is on the way to pick up Russ Grimm.

So let me get this straight. We hire Seattle's quarterback coach and make him Offensive Coordinator, then Seattle thought highly enough of our QB coach to hire him to be there quarterbacks coach. Why in the hell didn't we just make Lazor our "Offensive Coordinator". Count all the coaches we had and let go Marvin Lewis, Mike Martz, Cam Cameron, Ron Meeks, Schottheimer's brother, and I am sure their are more. This is just too funny.

Why not give Grimm a chance? Its a travesty when one of our own does not even get an interview?
Daniel Freakin Snyder! You are the man!

Let me get this right.....So we swapped QB Coaches THEN promoted Seattles to our O Coordinator
Bill Lazor got along with JC and we just let him go
Greg Williams interviewing in Dallas?
And we are stuck with Fassel or Mariucchi?
WHO'S ORCHESTRATING THIS MESS?
NO INTERVIEW FOR GRIMM?????

Did they hire him as just a QB coach, because if they did then they owe the Skins compensation for Lazor.

I could be wrong but I think the Redskins fired Lazor making him a "free agent" if you will.

Zorn has far better credentials as a QB coach than Lazor does. Zorn is an upgrade.

Yeah, but "Lazor" is such a good name for a QUARTERBACKS coach

And as it turned out, this wasn't true at all. Thanks again, JLC.
Where does he come up with this crap? Flight tracking software? I think
he's the one in outer space that needs flight tracking.

Fassel very well may get hired. But to carelessly throw that out there and get everyone all stirred up, when it wasn't true at all, is the worst kind of journalism imaginable. His credibility dies with every report he puts out. What a joke. And the irony of him criticizing Snyder, yet he takes no responsibility for anything he spits out. Sorry, this guy is a complete loser in my opinion.
And the truly sad part of this is, he's the insider for the Post, the local major news outlet in Washington. Therefore, every little thing he says, media outlets everywhere else on the planet picks up on and regurgitates what he says as gospel, as they always say... "according to the Washington Post...". Sad, just sad.

I saw where it was reported that he was let go and then the Skins rebuffed that report. So I don't really know, but if they didn't fire him Seattle should owe us something.
