We all know that even interviewing the Giants DC well still do nothing. We all know Meeks isn't gonna be here. And we all know the Pats OC well not be here either.
So it comes down to Fassel or Mooch(2 winning head coaches).
I want Mooch. But for right now Fassel is winning and I think he'll be our HC.

Jim Fassel is still the leading candidate to be the Redskins' next head coach, according to the Washington Post.
Owner Dan Snyder is said to have met with Steve Mariucci Wednesday, but is still leaning towards tabbing Fassel to succeed Joe Gibbs. Other candidates are Ron Meeks and Steve Spaguolo, who is expected to be interviewed on Tuesday. The Post believes the Redskins will name a coach by Thursday.

Let Strahan get his gap teeth on Brady!! I'm still puling for the Giants and I think they have a chance. They gave 'em a run last time and no way that Brady's high acnkle sprain is 100% healed.

I hope we do not end up with Fassel - I don't care how good he is. I would like Mariucci, Meeks or Grimm.

Its hard for me to imagine how any Redskins fan could be rooting for the Giants today. Its just completely impossible for me.
I'm playing indoor soccer tonight at 9 pm. That's how happy I am with this year's super bowl.
Enjoy the game though! Oh and to get back on topic, I've kind of resigned myself to seeing Fassel as our coach though I'm not really happy about that either. I don't really care at this point. It seems pretty clear that fan sentiment isn't a big part of Snyder's planning, or we would have had a coach three weeks ago.
God bless Art Monk.

I am a die hard Redskins fan but I CAN'T root for the Patriots. The Patriots have NO CLASS as a team. They are a bunch of cheaters and thats how they accomplished all their goals and everybody that is or has been envolved should be banned.

Yes lets have 2 guys who hasn't coached before become our new HC............Than when they make us go 4-12 .
Fassel or Mooch best 2 options right now.

I remember years ago we hired a HC who had no previous HC experience. His name was Joe Gibbs.

Latest Redskin insider news rumor:
Having failed to receive return calls from either Vince Lombardi or George Allen, Dan Snyder continues to search for a Big Name proven winner as head coach of the Redskins. Sources in Ashburn say that Snyder has placed calls to Steve Owen and Amos Alonzo Stagg.
It appears that Snyder has not been discouraged by his experience with big-time college coaches, in particular with someone named Steve. Stagg, best known as head coach of the University of Chicago Maroons, is reputed to have a nuclear offensive plan partially designed by assistants named Oppenheimer and Einstein.
Meanwhile, sources close to the Giants legendary coach, Steve Owen, have been quiet about all discussions with Snyder.
Another coach appears to have been dropped from the list of candidates. Redskins announced today that they have not now, nor have they ever, held discussions with Curley Lambeau.
All of these guys have great records, and could be the big name that Snyder craves.

Surely after the defensive display in the Super Bowl we have to at least be considering Steve Spagnoulo?

I'd take Mariucci or Fassel, but leaning Fassel. Both are solid HCs. I'm more concerned about future personnel decisions through the draft and FA.
The Giant's Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnoulo is OK but he's just a Jimmy Johnson (Eagles) disciple and we should have beaten the Giants both times this year, not just once. He was just copying what the Eagles did to stop the Pats in a game the Eagles should have won. Frankly, if we had that personnel on our D-line to rush the passer, it'd make any coordinator look like a genius. Frankly, I think if the Pats ran Maroney more, they might have won that game. Hats off to the G-men for having more desire and getting it done in the clutch. Very happy to see them beat the "invincible" Pats. Let the '72 Dolphins sip their champagne.
There's no harm in interviewing Steve Spagnoulo though. Make the Giants pay more for his services. I'm not buying his guru status but he's the closest thing you can get to Jimmy Johnson (Eagles) out there on the open market.

I don't think that Spagnuolo is a serious candidate for the job. I'm sure that Danny and Vinny are considering him, but I highly doubt that Spagnuolo would accept his first head coaching job with a team that already has a coaching staff in place. He is the hottest assistant in the NFL now, can probably get a raise from the Giants, and if he has another good year will probably have more head coaching options after next season. He isn't desperate for a job the way that Fassel is, so there is really no reason for him to take over our head coaching job if offered. Much more so than with Mooch of Fassel, the premature hiring of a staff could really hurt us with a guy like Spagnuolo.
