Who I think Snyder wants for the Head Coach position...

Comcast Network said it be a couple of weeks before the Redskins would know who would be next Head Coach of the Washington Redskins. That would mean the Super Bowl would be over and there is a trend in the NFL to hire younger Head Coaches., someone that will be around longer then three or four years. Belichick is the greatest Head Coach of this era and if he's not available, why not offer the man that is just under him a shot at the the job. I really think Dan Snyder wants, 31 year old Josh McDaniels. This could be a big Pay Day for McDaniels and hopefully give us some stability. What do you all think?

If Josh is the guy at 31 than Dan needs to make a commitment to him and the fans for 7 yrs. With no coaching or Vinny
changes.

Lousy idea. 31 is way too young....several players are older than that.
You just don't have the life experience at that age to be the top dog, and he's still in the grooming stage.
Garret would be the best choice if you want to get a young gun (and he's over 40),

Hey, I'm right down the road from you!
But, I think that you are on to something. I think that they don't want to make a move until they interview McDaniels and Spagnolo.

I'm not so sure. I wouldn't mind seeing an up and coming, young coordinator get the job. He might be inexperienced, but he has done a good job running the Pats offense and has handled Moss without any problem. Tomlin, who is only 2 or 3 years older than McDaniels, has done a good job so far with the Steelers. But you may be right in that he is a few years away from being ready. If the Skins are going to keep this process going for another couple of weeks, I at least hope that they interview this guy and see if he could be a good fit.

Great idea bring in McDaniels, Brady, Moss, and Welker.
What? We won't get Moss and Welker!
Well Brady would be enough!
What, no Tom either? Then why would we want to bring in McDaniels? Any fool can run a great offense with the talent that he has.

But it got Brian Billick a head coaching job -- and he fooled people for a real long time.

Yes he has good players. But that doesn't mean that he isn't a good coach. Tom Brady was in New England in 2003 yet they had the 17th ranked NFL offense that season.

Name their WRs in 2003, or 04, or 05, or, 06! He still managed to win 3 SB and bagged plenty very hot women.
he lat time R. Moss decided he actually wanted to play football almost every play the Vikings went 15-1 and set an NFL record the Moss and the Patriots just broke.
Why hire a younger Brian Bellick. The real sham is available. Man Randy made Brian a ton of money.

No stability at all.
Remember the question: worst general managers of all time?
One was George Preston Marshall...great showman and a fool who kept firing coaches.
If Snyder pulls something like this, or anything other than hiring Williams and the current staff, then he's about sealed it: true heir to GPM.

A person familiar with the Redskins' coaching search tells the AP that "there likely are candidates yet to be interviewed" by owner Dan Snyder.
The AP reports Giants DC Steve Spagnuolo and Patriots OC Josh McDaniels could be those candidates. At this point, the Redskins don't appear likely to have a head coach in place before next month. Snyder may be coolling on the idea of hiring Jim Fassel after a negative public outcry from Washington fans.

You took the words out of my mouth.
I have resigned myself to the fact that Dan Snyder is very likely to do the STUPID THING. I am preparing in my mind a well-thought out Blog about this. Probably my last blog before I quit following the team altogether in anger.

Well, please don't quit following the team. In the worst of the seasons, seasons so bad that our young fans who grumble if the team "only" makes the playoffs two out of three years would [sorry for te awkwardly long clause], that those fans can't possibly imagine the depths to which the Redskins sank, even then they remained the team that once had Sammie Baugh and Cliff Battles.
We stuck it out.
Eventually, McPeak (a builder) and Lombardi and Allen made the team into perpetual winners. Joe Gibbs and Bobby Beathard made them champs of champs.
I don't know if Snyder has the ability to change, but he must hate losing. Even George Steinbrenner went through periods of lucidity and sometimes allowed his GM and manager to field a team, rather than a bag-ful of individual ex-stars.
So, consider it loyalty to the uniform, to the memory of supreme skill and dignity that Gibbs brought back in 2004. Consider that your heart beats a little faster every time the Redskins Marching Band, the first and the last of NFL bands, starts "Hail to the Redskins".
Meanwhile, I'm bracing myself, but standing my ground.

I will -ALWAYS- be a Washington Redskins fan. I love the history. I love MANY players and coaches and their human stories behind them. Those lessons still shape my life and actions in many other endeavours of my work and family life. Those will never go away.
But Dan Snyder will NOT get a SINGLE penny from me EVER again. No, he will not get even my

Not giving Dan S any money shouldn't pre-empt you from blogging your thoughts. At the end of the day, your voice is all you have.

I'm also hoping that we see Williams as HC with a few changes in players and coaches on the sidelines this season.
I will support the team no matter who is there but I certainly hope it is not a young "quick fix" coach.
Let the teams who are in trouble and need a lot of things to fix their franchises go the instant gratification route - this is the Washington Redskins, we deserve one of the best coaches in the NFL. God knows, we are going to pay him like he is!
I personally hope that Snyder does not think that he can take a chance with our new HC - we need a coach that can keep the team together not one that will come in and try different things because they "worked" somewhere else.
There are not many coaches that can win with a group of players and then leave and make a completely different group of players be competitive doing the same things. Some teams need that - we do not. That's what is basically wrong with quick fixes - that's all they are.

I am in favor of giving the coaching job to Gregg Williams, but I could see wanting to rebuild and go into a different direction.
If Snyder shakes things up, it doesn't make him a fool, but I can certainly understand people's reactions due to his history.
Like I said, I would personally keep the staff together. I'd keep the assistants and make GW the HC, Saunders as the OC and Jerry Gray as the DC.
I'd make a commitment to this squad for at least 4 years and let them build their own team.
Still, Snyder is interviewing people, and he actually hears people and their opinions. This is the first time he's looking for someone either than the celebrity coach. As a businessman, he knows how to surround himself with good people and he's getting a feel for the candidates.
The next HC has their work cut out for them and maybe Snyder feels that Williams just isn't that person, and he's looking for someone he feels can build a dynasty. (Also, it's possible that since Vinny was named GM, Gregg Williams doesn't even really want to become HC since he'd have to give up the personnel control he enjoyed as DC. )

No, he worked out in Boston; that doesn't mean he would have worked out here.

That's the thing with this game - it's just not that easy to add the players with talent to a team and think that will guarantee success - this is what has happened here IMO with Snyder BG (before Gibbs) - he with Cerrato's help just added "talent" both on the field and on the sidelines without regard for the team's needs.
The almost simple formula is for the coaches to coach the players to play and execute together - It is important to have good coaches and good players but a group of not very talented players playing together and executing a proven game plan will always beat a team of talented players not playing together.
New England provides a good example of this - last year they were beaten by the Colts after leading by a good margin at the half. New England was a decent to good team last year BUT they realized they needed to play with more options on offense and defense. With the addition of the receivers and adding Adalius Thomas both the offense and defensive game planning changed to enable both the defensive and offensive coaches to have more options.
When you have limited options on offense and defense it does not matter that you have Brady and a bunch of great defensive players, plus a defensive genius in Belicheat. They needed to play together better with more options (not better players) to beat the Colts. Now the players for New England get rave reviews but IMO only because they are playing well together. I think they are not so great players executing very well together and thus looking like a really great team.
The thing we have to achieve here is that the football people have to be allowed to do their thing in hiring coaches and finding players to suit this team. Unfortunately, Snyder wants to be involved.
I am not a Cerrato fan but that is primarily because to date here he has only seemed to be a yes man to Snyder's desires to have a great team. Cerrato might be able to get this all together IF he is given the opportunity and Snyder, despite his desire to help will stand back and let the football guys do their thing.
The reality here is that Snyder is the owner. Cerrato is now the guy that is basically doing the job of a GM

Snyder should let Cerrato do his thing and IF this does not work I would hope that Snyder will replace him.
Unfortunately, we are stuck with an owner that does not seem to understand that he needs to let NFL people run his team.
