hey guys,
i am a redskins fan from new jersey... and a bit of a gambler. last night i came up with a plan and it worked out alright. i bet $1500 on the hornets in the NBA (don't ask me why, it was the only game left on the board when i came up with this plan)... and it HIT! so, here is what i am going to do...
1. i am going to bet the REDSKINS to win outright today for my full $1500 (that i won yesterday). if i lose, i am out the money that i already won. if we win today... i will win an additional $2700. (we are almost 2-1 dogs so i win more than i bet)... bringing me to $4200 total winnings.
2. so, if we win, i am going with the wife next weekend to DALLAS! to do it right, i can spend the $2700 on airfare, hotel, tickets to the game, and eating out. of course, i still have that other $1500.... which i will once again bet on the skins to win outright. the process starts over again... WIN... and we go to green bay! (or wherever)
3. by winning that game last night, i am in a win only position. i can not lose any of my own money (however i could've last night), yet my pyramid scheme will allow me to go as far as the REDSKINS will allow me... all paid for by them winning.
4. if they make some remarkable run to the superbowl, i will have attended every game (after seattle) and had it all paid for by them! it all starts today, though. cross your fingers.
ON A SIDE NOTE: they need me there. i have been to 3 games this year... giants, jets, cards. they are 3-0 while i am in attendance!!!

Interesting strategy, I hope it works.
I don't do much sports betting, and I make it a point never to bet on, for, or against the Redskins. People often ask me why, and they think that if I really like the Redskins fans, I shouldn't be afraid to bet for them. And, all I can ever say to them is that I'm not in it for the money...I'm in it for the love of the team!
Good luck with that one!

I never gamble. I like to have control over things myself.
But as far as your strategy goes, and if your current winnings do not really matter for a higher family priority, going to Dallas courtesy of the Seahawks and the Skins sounds good to me.
Just be careful with any addiction to gambling bro. It has wrecked a few lives and families. Keep it under control.

I agree with you... that is why i would be reinvesting every dollar won back into supporting the team. the optimal plan would be go to two NFC playoff games, the superbowl, live it up with my team, and come home with zero money left from the whole adventure. i would never be able to pay for such a run on my own... however, as long as they win (especially as underdogs) everything would be covered by my initial wager.

i understand. last night i risked $1500, which i am fortunate to say, was money i could afford to lose. (30yo, wife, no kids yet, very good job) i figured i had a 50/50 chance of setting this plan in motion. if i lost, i would pay the money and consider it a late xmas gift to myself. but now, i am letting it ride. a one time thing. and if the redskins go far, it would exponentially increase because of bigger payouts for beating better teams....
Starting off: +$1500 (thanks to the NBA hornets)
LEVEL 1: Win in Seattle... $1500 wins $2700 (total bank $4200)
LEVEL 2: Go to Dallas, spend $2700, wager $1500
LEVEL 3: Win in Dallas, win additional $3700 (assuming we are now 2.5-1 underdogs) (total bank $5200)
LEVEL 4: Go to Green Bay, spend $2700, wager $2500
LEVEL 5: Win in Green Bay, win additional $6200 (assuming again 2.5-1 underdogs) (total bank $8700)
LEVEL 6: Go to Superbowl, $8700 to spend
Of course, lose today... back to zero.
