I've been reading a bit about the Seahawks and they way that they like to play. They are a past first, past second, and run only if you have to sort of team. Those teams never seem to do well in poor weather. So, I figured I would check out the weather in Seattle for Saturday. Here is what weather.com had to say.

Rain High
45°F

Precip
100%

Wind: SSW 17 mph
Max. Humidity: 79%
UV Index: 1 Low

Thats some pretty strong wind. Plus a 100% chance of rain! That looks good for us!

I had Hasselbeck as my no. 1 fantasy QB this year and the dude was a STUD. This game worries me for that reason and the fact that he is much more accustomed to playing in inclement weather than we (Collins) is.

One good thing is that I'm sure Joe has the boys praticing outside in Ashburn, so should simulate what they'll see on Saturday.

One surpise however was a note Portis made on Sunday after the game, when asked: Do you expect any surprised when playing the Seahawks?

Portis said it was very loud when they played there in '05; stating they could not hear the QB audibles and signals. Which I thought Joe would have accounted for the crowd/noise level which is infamous at that stadium.

Let's hope he has loud speakers at practice to modle the noise level they'll encounter on Saturday.

HAIL!!

The weather forecast is actually not too bad - light rain and wind strength between 15-17 from the SSW which is slightly across the field but it is not a "cold" wind per se. I would hope that we get the wind direction "right" for the 4th qtr in case we need a Suisham FG

Weather is not going to be "bad" just a little wet. Temperatures should be cold but not the wind chill that you would get from a Northerly wind. Rain should not be too heavy.

Collins will need to factor in the wind more so than Hasselback as he does not have as strong a throwing motion - but Portis/Betts combined with really strong effort from Springs/Smoot will result in a low scoring win for the Redskins.

Lucky for us we've had practice playing with a wet football already.

I don't like that we are going to have to play in the rain.

Maybe some of you in DC could correct me if I'm wrong. But I live in southern VA and we don't get the "weather" we used to down here. My point being that the Redskins are suppose to be a "weather" team. And in the past that's what I see on NFL films, is that the skins were a "weather" team. But I can't remeber all that many games in bad weather in the last 5 or 6 years. Maybe a hand full.

We did do great last time we played in weather, but wasn't that against a dome team?

Not against another "weather" team. No team is more used to the rain than the Shehawks. But the good side, is their field I would think. I mean they get much more rain there, I would think they would have built the field for it. I'm thinking they have real good drainage because they expected it when building the field. I think that being said, IF you have to play in the rain, wouldn't be best to play on a field made for it??

Hello skin fans. Just thought I'd jump in on this one (Seahawk fan here).

Yeah, the field is designed around the rain. The only time I've seen it hold any rain at all was last year when we had a freak 100 year storm before the 49ers Monday Night Game. The only reason it held water then was because a bunch of little rubber chunks from the field turf plugged the drains. Once they cleaned them out, the field drained remarkably well.

The only real tricks it seems to Qwest field in the weather are the wind, and the rain. Regardless of the winds direction, it swirls through there in some bizzare ways. It's pretty typical to see the orange flags atop the goal posts to be blowing in 4 different directions. It can be tough on visiting kickers.

As for the rain, believe it or not, the Seahawks didn't play in the rain the first 3 or 4 years that they played at Qwest. But they certainly made up for it last year. Hasselbeck practices with footballs that soak in buckets of water to get used to throwing the wetter heavier balls. Also, one odd thing that he's picked up, if you watch him during warmups, is that he always has a towel on his hip that is soaking wet. He continually wets his hands down prior to throwing the ball to help him get used to throwing the wet ball.

Just my $.02 as an avid Seahawk fan.

Good luck on Saturday. (well as much as I can wish to an opponent)

I leave for Seattle this morning.

Two years ago, it rained the whole time. From the time I stepped off the plane till the end of the game.

Funny thing, the second the game was over, it stopped raining and the sun came out!!!

I was sick for a week!!!

I am hoping that the weather is much better this time around!

Doubt it.

I am a wee bit higher than my dream seats at FedEx.

Like section 407 or something!

But I will stick it to every Seahawk fan that I can.

I am going with my cousin, who is former pro wrestler, celeb bodygaurd, semi pro football player, and all around monster. Cops are afraid of the guy. If people only knew he was a big ol pussy cat, unless you really piss him off, or we are losing.

So I think we should be pretty safe from hecklers. He was only messed with one time where it came to blows (at the vet, go figure), and he beat up three guys. We both were arrested in put into their old jail.

I have seen fans from other teams buy him drinks at games!

For the Chawks fans, lets hope we have a 21 piont lead at halftime!

Say no more. What was his in-ring name? Which promotion?

Again, enjoy the game.

EDIT: On a side note, does anyone know if the game will be shown in HD on NBC? I've searched their website, and I can't find info on that. A little help?

Forecast now has 23 mph winds.

I'm not thinking that the rain will be much of a factor. But, I'm bettinf that 23 mph winds will favor the team with the better running game.

Oh, it's in HD. Apparently, every NFL game for the rest of forever will be in HD.

That means CBS and Fox are planning to be 100% HD for all games next season.

It goes both ways. It'll help us because we have the better running game, but they have a qb who is better suited to handle that type of wind.
