A friend of mine sent me this today:

"Hacksaw of Extra sports 690/1150 reported this morning that the Redskins have reopened talks with the Saints for DT Grady Jackson and that they offered Ladell Betts and a low round draft pick for the DT.

Hacksaw loves making bold predictions and starting rumors.. so don't put too much faith in it. Just thought you'd like to know."

... and I don't put THAT much faith in it but is interesting. If there's any truth in the matter... obviously we're not that sold on Betts. (signing Canidate proved that anyway didn't it?)

Would you guys/gals give up Betts AND a draft pick to get an aged veteran like Jackson?

wow, I don't know about Betts. Well, I guess yea. I'd like to have a bruising back but thats just me. If he is WORTH it and just not some back up like the other guy, than maybe.

I would really like to see Betts, or at least see Trung shine before getting rid of Betts. All indications this offseason is he is reaching a new level

The Post reported that the Skins are one of several teams trying to trade with the Broncos for DT Lional Dalton. The Skins are trying to trade a mid to late round pick in the 2004 Draft.

Betts is running out, or already ran out, of favor with Spurrier prob due to the elbow injury. Put that on top of the amount of camp he missed and it don't look good.

I'd give him up and a low round pick. D line is obviously the hole in the bucket so far -- so if we are gonna make a run I'm with giving Betts up for an upgrade at DT.

Yeah I would trade either Betts or Watson plus a low pick for a starting qaulity DT right now. I'm not sure Grady Jackson is the guy I'd want given a choice mind. Personally Iwould wait until the final cuts are made and see whats available then.
