This is what the Times is revealing as the list that they seem to think the Skins are going to pursue:

Brunell - 2.2 mil - QB - Jax
Portis - ???? - RB - Denver

Kearse - 2.6 mil - DE - Ten
Griffin - less than 2 mil - DT - NYG (27)
Coleman - less than 2 mil - DT - OAK (27)
Springs - less than 2 mil - CB - SEA
Holdman - less than 2 mil - LB - CHI
Grant - less than 2 mil - S - CAR
Wistrom - less than 2 mil - DE - STL (if they can't get Kearse)
Kleinsasser - ??? - TE - MIN
Daniels - less than 2 mil - DE - CHI (probable reserve)

There is reportedly no interest in Sapp - whew!

I'd still rather have Wistrom than Kearse.

The diffrence between the two is Kearse will finese around double teams and wistrom will try to fight through them.

Which style do you think is most effective in a 4 second window, to get at the QB?

This sounds like an excellent plan!

I would have tried to get someone younger than Springs but I suppose a vet to teach Smoot a thing or too is okay also.

uh, what style is more effective? look at their stats and/or watch them play and you would see that kearse is better in that 4 second window...the problem with kearse is he has been injury-prone for 2 seasons making him a risky investment, but when he's healthy, he's unstoppable.

maybe they're just thinking quick fix at the other corner spot for this year, and they'll pick up a top cb with the number 32 spot in the first round of next year's draft. :-)

yeah, springs is decent, but i would definitely like someone younger. i really like antoine winfield from buffalo. yeah, he is tiny (i think 5'9", 185), but man can that guy tackle. plus, he did play under greg williams in that #2 defense.

I can think of another tiny corner who locked down his side of the field for 20 years...#28

That's so true, I'm kind of prejudiced about size too, but when you're as fast as, and can jump high as Green, you can cover ANYONE.

I love DG, is he ever gonna come back in some kind of coaching/front office role?

Deon Grant, very interesting. He plays free saftey, so if we get him it looks like we'll be trading down in the draft.

As far as Kearse vs. Wistrom goes, I think Wistrom is a better overall defensive end. He's much better against the run, much more durable and should be much cheaper. But since the Redskins are so pathetic at rushing the passer, I wouldn't complain one bit about Kearse, who is definetly one of, if not the, best pass-rushers in the game...

I'd like to see Ian Gold, or Marcus Washington come to the skins as the LB we need. There 2 young and speedy guys which is what i think we need more of in our LB core. Plus they've got good last names ;) Haven't heard much about Holdman, any buddy know about this guy...I haven't even seen him lsited as a free agent.

I definetly think well either snag kearse or winstrom...i can't see us not getting one of those. Coleman would be a great addition too. He's young and quick..although i'd like sapp instead for his leadership and knowledge...i don't think he's leaving Tampa...thats what the latest reports say anyways.

I like Springs too. You can always count on a Blue Devil! (Springbrook Blue Devil that is!)

Warrick Holdman is a beast, and is a much better linebacker than Armstead was in my opinion. He did amazing his first couple of seasons, then was on IR for a season or two. I think hes getting cut by the Bears because of cap/injury problems. He will be a great addition to our LB corps.

Kerse will be asking for $20 Millon up front, I say pass on him. The foot problems are to risky to invest that type of money and we will need a good DT or two to free up the D-ends.

DE Barry from Denver would not be a bad pick up (11.5 sacks last year),

Kearse is unstoppable when hes healthy but he is ripe to be a free agent disappointment with his foot problems, if we pay Kearse around a $20 million signing bonus he better be one of the most dominant Defensive players in the league who absolutly man handles those who line up across from him, if he turns out to be just a "good" pass rusher than, in my opinion, he would be a dissapointment and not worth it, because his hefty and longterm contract can really screw the team especially if he doesnt perform

i don't think he'll get quite 20 mil, maybe 15. he was a beast playing at left end. im sure williams will put him back there if signed. i've always liked kearse. i would like to see him here. he has missed 14 games in the last two years though. but in those two years he still had 11.5 sacks, which is more than any end we've had.
