Westbrook might play this week...

For everyone who was pulling for him back in Training Camp, it looks like he'll get his chance this weekend against the G-Men. I hope he gets the chance to prove he's just as athletic as his brother.

-- EUBANKS SITS OUT
Reserve cornerback John Eubanks suffered a toe infection during the last week and he missed practice on Wednesday.

If he is unable to play on Sunday, it's possible that the Redskins would have to call up rookie Byron Westbrook from practice squad to serve in dime coverage.

Seriously. What is the deal? Macklin's no Champ Bailey, but he's no chump, either. I think he's better than Eubanks and he' definitely better than Byron Westbrook. Did he pull a LaVar or something?

Sources say David Macklin has Hyper-Inactivity Disorder, a rare disease caused by being placed on the inactive roster behind a rookie.

ahh yes I've heard about this disease ... I believe there have been less severe cases within the Redskins organization before.. I believe LaVar came down with something similar and Lloyd and Archuletta have also contracted similar symptoms ..though their cases werent as severe being that they werent placed behind a rookie but still very debilitating (sp?) .. might be a strand running rampant throughout our teams locker room

Wow, I honestly admit I'd forgotten about Macklin. But I do remember saying to myself last week... 'what the hell is Eubanks doing in there'? I was trying to remember all the d-backs we had on the roster during the offseason and thought... 'geez, is Eubanks the best we got right now'?

That said, I wouldn't mind seeing what Westbrook can do.

And if GW and staff think Macklin ain't good enough, at this time, then I'm behind them all the way. None of us has any insight into Macklin's current playing abilities. Just because we sign someone (for the league minimum, if I remember correctly) doesn't mean they're guaranteed a spot on Sundays.

My 2 cents

Westbrook may not be the last player from the practice squad to play this season at the rate of injuries and other disappointments that we are going. The final stretch is a tough time to play a rookie. I hope he works out well. He certainly has the talent.

Who would have thought Stephen Heyer would be starting this past preseason.

Well, seeing as he started the entire preseason, I never thought it was out of the question.

The common thread between Lavar, AA, and BL is that when the Skins shelved them, there was something that made them ineffective and that is the reason they were riding the pine.

Let’s start with the easiest.
AA - was on the bench because he flat out stunk. Can't cover a daisy with a beach blanket.
BL - Just not productive and rubbed the coaching staff the wrong way, yet they gave him a chance to redeem himself early this year and again midseason, but he just kept jumping for balls too soon, was ineffective, continued to push the buttons of the coaching staff, and then broke his collar bone.
Lavar - Bad knees, contract problems, issues w/GW, didn't follow the system.

I don't know what is going on w/Macklin, but the other three all had legit reasons to be on the bench. Lavar is out of football, AA was benched by Lovie (the only guy AA ever played well for), and BL is just an underachiever that most of us overestimated his ability.
