Do we have a QB conterversey brewing in DC? I say that a bit tounge in cheek, but Collins has looked good. He looks comfortable and smooth in the pocket. I think the team picked it up for him after JC went down, and it is nice to see that after this past week. I wish they had been playing like that all season, with urgency and determination at the end of a game, but for one night, I will take it. It seems they want to put the Bears away and go home a winner.

And Collins did not FUMBLE the ball when he was touched. Amazing. [Sarcasm]

There's no doubting that JC is more gifted.

But this is that experienced vet JJG embraces. He throws a more catchable ball -- both in touch and in placement -- and he uses what he has well.

He's kinda where Brunell was in 2004 and '05 before it all went to pot.

Guys come on people calling todd to be starter... Jc if healthy is the qb... Todd played nice, but seriously, the bears saw no film on him, let keep that in mind... Todd played good but ppl sayomg he is our future, come on

I dont think Collins did enough to bench Campbell, but he was pretty impressive. I like the idea of playing offense in the second half though.

Um yea he did. He fumbled after he was hit by Alex Brown. The Bears recovered it.

Collins did a very nice job. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. There is a reason why he has been a career backup. JC's season is done so the gig is Collins' for the rest of the year, but JC is the qb next year.

Collins was awesome, but if Campbell is healthy, he needs to be the man. Let's keep our eyes on the ball people.

Nobody is calling Todd a starter ahead of Campbell when healthy. But it is SURELY nice to see him play like that. And I do hope he takes full advantage of the opportunity.

A healthy Campbell is the QB in Washington. Nothing short of a Superbowl appearance without him should even raise this concern.

If we keep winning and make the playoffs, then I vote to make him starter.

Even if JC is out for the year, he is our guy. The thing I hope he sees in film study is how quickly Todd made his decisions. If JC can get his recognition skills up he will be a world beater. I cringe when Todd throws the ball it just seems to hang in the air, where as with JC there is some real zip on it.

Heres a typical DARE I SAY IT redskin fan always looking for DRAMA collins cant hold JC jock strap much less be our starter. There is a reason Collins has ben a back up for 13 years .

Sure you can dare to say it. And I'll dare say that it's absolutely insane to suggest JC is anything but the future of the Skins.

I don't see how JC comes back this season with only 3 weeks left. Hopefully he can. He needs the reps.

And I'll DARE SAY THIS - design the offense around THE KID! I thought it was telling last night that Collins was throwing to space when recievers were in full flight. Jason holds the ball and likes to have a reciever looking back at him - so design the O to work for his skill set.

I agree this is ridiculous to bring up a QB controversy. Why waste time with an aging old vet, come on let’s be real. He hasn’t played in the league for a reason he is a good back-up at best.

No matter what Collins and Brunell do, neither one will be here next year. They are both back-up QBs and even if Collins is responsible for 3 wins and an unbelievable QB rating he will not be good enough to make this team next year.

Collins is just a back-up QB and he and Brunell are done - thanks for the help, see you later - we will have younger and faster QBs (lets face it anyone will be younger and faster ) that can not only back-up Campbell but maybe become our starter down the road.

A 'quarterback controversy' implies that there are two or more individuals who are ready, willing, and able to play the position.

In case anyone missed it, Jason Campbell is currently Willing and always has been, but is neither Ready nor Able.

Todd Collins, fortunately for everyone concerned, was Ready, Willing and Able.
There is less than a snowball's chance in hell that Todd Collins thought about anything other than the clipboard right up until Jason Campbell was carted off the field.

Chicago had a quarterback controversy right up until Rex Grossman was injured.
Washington has an injured starter and a capable backup.

If there is no question who is starting the game each week, or who would be starting the game when healthy, then there is no controversy.

No controversy.... Collins is more comfortable in Al's system and Collins will be here next year if Al is here. Brunell, now that's a different story. I think you either draft a late round QB or find a young floating around to replace Brunell.

What Jason needs to do now is study the film of what Collins did and learn from it.

Also, here's a thought: Did Al get a little more "freedom" to call what he wanted with Collins in there, with Gibbs knowing that Todd is a veteran knows Al's system completely???

Also, I've noticed this season that Al's offense is pass to run but that ey is the featured receiver in this offense which means TE heavy. Gonzalez caught a lot of balls in KC when Al was there....

You could definitely see a clear difference in the velocity of passes and arm strength between JC and Todd. JC clearly has more talent and will be the starter when he's healthy. That said, I was pleased with the play of Collins last night.

Hey guys, wait a second. Wow, wow, wow !!!

All I know is that Jason is hurt and unlikely to be back this season.

All I know is that Todd is our starter until the end of the season when ever that might be.

What controversy? Does Todd deserve our FULL SUPPORT or not?

As usual, I agree with Joe Gibbs when he said that this has been the BEST performance of anybody coming out the bench in any Redskins game in history. And this man remembers Schroeder tearing apart the Giants when Joe Theisman got hurt a while ago. Come on now!

I will start the Todd Collins badwagon if I need to. Join me. It may not be a long ride beyond this season but it might be an unforgettable and totally unexpected ride for the next few games this season.

I agree with RiC - in case anyone misunderstood my post.

I always support the Redskins "starting" QB (even when it was Brunell) - right now, that would be Collins BUT this support is because that guy in Gibbs' estimation gives us the best chance to win these next 3 games - that is all I really care about because I know that Collins and Brunell will not be good enough to make this team next year they are really not good enough, now, but that is another topic
