I got an i phone last week, and it was pretty cool. I was able to watch the game live at Fedex and still chat in Thehogs.net during via the game thread.
It was cool being able to see what you were seeing and post, and getting info from other members on what they were hearing on TV.

Moved due to the fact that the topic is more iPhone (I want one) than Redskins

After reading about CLL's weekend, I think I'll skip the iPhone. It seems to be bad luck.

I won't buy anything Apple since they wanted $70 to replace the battery in my $120 iPod Mini.

I own a blackberry. I've never tried an iPhone, but I don't have a fond taste for anything apple.

I have bought iPod batteries from
iPodjuice.com before and prices are good and they are pretty easy to install yourself.

I have the blackberry curve. I will tell anyone that once you go to a media center type of phone that you probably won't go back to the old style cellular phones..

You kids...I swear. I can't keep up. My oldest laughed at me when I showed him my new phone. The conversation went something like this:
Me: "Look what I finally got!"
Him: (stares)
Me: "Yep! The old man got himself a cell phone. Im officially in the new millenium!"
Him: "What does it do?"
Me: "Well...it makes phone calls!"
Him: "Dad, they don't use them for phone calls anymore. Does it have a camera?"
Me: "A what?"
Him: "That's not what you're getting me for my birthday, is it?"

The mini was a sealed system from my understanding. You tore up the outside getting it apart from the search I did way back then.
The mini was only 18-24 months old. Granted it was used my whole shift at work for that period.
edit: I'm going to say when mine died, this site wasn't up yet

or else I'd feel as I wasted a lot of money on my old iPod mini and subsequent Samsung MP3 player.

Unfortunately, you're right; I believe you void the warranty if you open the device yourself, but since you already busted the one year warranty you really don't have much to lose.

Your complaint seems reasonable; the battery should've lasted atleast
500 charging cylces.

I used it at least 5 days a week when I worked graveyard for the USPS and my commute on public transportation. No matter, it's long gone and I have no desire to have another Apple product.

It's a pretty good investment.
Pro's:
Good service.
Speaker quality is good.
Picture quality is great.
It plays all songs and videos from iTunes.
The free Apps are awesome (my advice would be to never buy one).
Contact personalization is easy, organized and broken down very well.
Con's:
No insurance (it was a part of the agreement for AT&T to acquire the rights to the phone).
No personalized text message tones... you have to use what's on it.
You can only use songs purchased on iTunes as a ringtone (or convert songs from your computer using certain websites).
Battery doesn't last very long.
No sim card.
Finger marks all over the screen (obviously can't avoid it but it comes with a cloth to clean it).
