Moss Attitude

I just listened to a recent Sanatana Moss interview. I have never seen a more negative demotivated player on any redskin team. His attitude is almost as bad as his recent play. He seems mad at the team. Does this come from his injuries or just a relflection of the team overall??

It probably comes from the fact that Santana Moss hasn't been healthy in almost three years.

Public displays of frustration do not sit well with Joe Gibbs. Ask Brandon Lloyd. Moss, however, is not likely to be benched. It appears he is actually injured (again).

In any case, when your team has a winning record and controls their own destiny based upon winning upcoming divisional games, there should be no negativity.

If Moss doesn't want to be a Washington Redskin, he should just pack his locker now. He hasn't done anything in two years and has no room to run his mouth.

:hmm:
Didn't he set the franchise receiving record in 2005?

Wasn't 2005 two seasons ago? Who cares what Moss or anyone else did two season ago? I sure as hell don't. Not to mention, wasn't it this very same Santana Moss who dropped nine passes in one game earlier this season? Let's put that into perspective. How many Redskins receivers have not even had nine passes thrown their way this season, much less in one game?

And, Santana, there isn't a starter in the entire league that makes it through a 16 game season without some type of injury. If you want, I can pull your other hamstring and even them out for you.

Santana Moss and the rest of this team need to put up and shut up.
One more season of "Could Have, Should Have, Would Have" is one too many.

My 2 cents

Scrap it all and start over!

The team should cut all of these aging players, draft young guys, and start a new.  :!:

:hmm:

Who said anything about cutting anyone?
There will be plenty of time for that discussion at season's end.
This thread is specific to one player who, in my opinion, hasn't done enough this season to justify running his mouth.

Maybe he needs a doctor's note so he can be excused:

Dear Mr. Gibbs,
Santana can't come out to play this weekend.
He seems to have developed a case of the lipschitz.
Thank You.
Dr. Quack

I was merely pointing out the inaccuracies in your post. And the entire team had 9 dropped passes in the Packers game, not Moss alone. Still I understand your point. Moss is probably just frustrated at the sub-par season he is having, but that doesn't excuse running his mouth in an interview, that is going out for public consumption during the season.

I will have to agree with GSPODS on this one (dont get used to it  ) Santana hasn't done jack for two seasons. He had ONE good season with us. He is not the legit #1 reciever that we need. His production has declined each season he has been here. Moss has no room to run his mouth given his current out put. Our WR corps needs a face-lift. Maybe if they would put BL in there, he can prove to be a legit #2/slot reciever, so then all we would need is a legit #1. Moss isnt the all-star, gonnna put up big numbers so opposing defenses have to prepare for him kind of reciever. So Santana, shut up and play. If you aren't happy, don't let the door hit you on your way out.

See this is the same issue I had with GSPODS post. Unless you are saying this season is over, your statement is totally false. Two seasons ago he set the franchise receiving record. I'm not saying it will happen, but he could go on a tear these last eight games, and set a new franchise record, in which case I'm sure everyone here would be crowning him king of the Redskins.

We'd have a better chance playing "Pickup Sticks" with our butt cheeks than Santana Moss has of setting any records this season. Moss could have set the record for futility but that bar was set extremely low by Brandon Lloyd. There's still hope for Thrash to break that one, though.
Attitude is everything in sports.

Have some sympathy... his Schwartz is small. It was once large, but no longer. He has a small Schwartz.

Like GSPODS said.. coulda, shoulda, woulda. He wont go on a tear this season as long as he is injured and having a bad attitude. Moss is not the reciever that we need in the #1 slot. He would definitely be a legit #2 reciever and a great compliment to a true #1 wideout. To say my statement is totally false is totally ridiculous. His production has consistently dropped the two and a half seasons he has been here. This year thus far is his worst as a Redskin. Going off of stats, where do you see that Santana is going to have a break out year? If Moss ends up somehow some way turning things around and actually playing as our #1 wideout and has a great season, I will be the first to admit I was wrong. So dont expect any admittance on my part come seasons end because it aint happening. My 2 cents

It may just be me, but I hate to hear anything from players during the season. Talk on the field, and then go home.

I've criticised the guy in the past for his offseason mishaps, but Sean Taylor seems to have the balance exactly right at the moment.

Hard help is good to find.
Or, was that supposed to be Good Help is hard to find.
Depends on who you ask, I suppose.
Anyway, Santana definitely needs to construct a new lightsaber.
His current one is a 100 Watt flashlight running on an 8 Watt nightlight.

How about a line to the actual interview? I would take your word for it, but I've never heard an interview with Moss in which he seemed to not want to be a Redskin. I'm sure that he is frustrated with his injuries and lack of production.

you can check out the interview here.....I agree that his attitude in the intereview was poor

that said, I'm a Moss fan and hope he turns it around....attitude, health and play wise in the very near future

I understood your point. It's only been one and one-half seasons. There are still at least eight games left this season for Moss to be productive.

How many opportunities has he gotten to make big plays this season though? This is a bigger issue than just Santana not making plays. Look around a disappointing receiver and you'll usually find a bad QB situation close by. This really goes back to the offensive line when you dig a little bit. No O-line = no balance, no play action, no deep ball. Secondly, Moss is not a #1 receiver, so he's sort of in over his head. Add the other factors, plus bad health and you have a perfect recipe for what's going on in his head right now.

Sure, there's a myriad of issues contributing to this issue, but when the o-line is able to pass-protect and run-block, it makes for happy "skill position" players.

I'm kind of gettin sick of Moss, honestly I like him but if we can get Fitzgerald without cutting him that would be good, I think Moss would be the perfect #2 WR. But if we had to cut/trade him for Fitz then I wouldn't be that upset.

Makes me unhappy to have a Moss jersey...... he sure isn't half the player he was in the "past".......

It could mostly be the injury talking. Moss probably won't play, and I can understand that he's not happy.

And, as Texas implied, that's a big reason why Gibbs coaches his players to talk cliches when interviewed. (Remember "Bull Durham"? Kid, you gotta learn your cliches if you want to make it in the show...)

It seems to me a great many of you are looking for something to bemoan. What do y'all expect, for Tana to be rah rah over a underachieving 5-3 team? He has never done anything different in his interviews. He did not say one negative thing about the team, the coaches, or any other player. Why is no one riding CP for stating he "wants to carry the team, but he is not given the opportunity" that to me is a shot at the coaches. I guess dressing up in a clown outfit give him a free pass from being questioned. Tana is a cut & dry guy, he is not sugar coating his comments to make fans feel better. I respect that about him. Truth is if this team keeps playing like they have all year (save the Detroit game). They will be on the outside looking in at the playoff teams. The whole team needs to quit moping around and step up the intensity that includes the fans.

Seems to me that THN is collecting modern gossip-sports-entertainment opinions like a dust magnet. Moss has played hurt all season, and Gibbs and Saunders back him as a guy who plays for the team...to win. Serious players hate to be sidelined.

Moss doesn't sound happy, but why should he?

Portis says "give me the ball", which isn;t much different than Ernest Byner did years ago. Portis says it to the press, but we know he's just playing games. It shows spirit, and Gibbs has never clamped down on spirit as long as his player did not antagonize an opponent.
