JLC might not like BLloyd

A fiery post from JLC:

Anyone who has been paying attention at all has seen that the Brandon Lloyd experiment has looked doomed for a long time. Unfortunately, a lot of people who bog for a living don't, and it's always easier to be seduced by someone's car or charm than it is delve more deeply into a situation such as this. I'd suggest to all those in radio land or cyberspace who want to roll with the free agent bust to get as much time with him in the next few months as possible, because every indication has pointed to him being gone after the season.

I love Steinberg - okay, that's a lie; I generally like Steinberg - but he's pathetically off base on this one. The wide receiver is not just some poor nice dude who is getting dumped on by the coaches. That's happened around here before, but not in this case. Brandon is also not some demon. He is an incredibly charming, bright, funny individual with diverse interests who comes from an pretty amazing family. Unfortunately, that side of him is often clouded by the immature things he sometimes does and says, and, Steinberg, it's not about Old Media vs. New Media on how Lloyd is viewed, it's about Media Who Report And Are Informed vs., well, draw your own conclusions.

And the rest here. . .

Aside from his arrogance I think JLC's position is interesting, and his analysis of the money involved might be closer to the truth than I would want to admit. Still a lot of hatting going on there, even though he pretends to be the god of objectivity.

At the end of the day, I'm still behind BLloyd in this whole mess. I see the problems that JLC is pointing out, but unlike him I still think that Lloyd can contribute (as I've said in recent discussion on THN).

On the basis of the accuracy, or shall I say inaccuracy of JLC's "inside information" alone, I place even less creedence in his blogs.

"The idea he is being unfairly persecuted around here is laughable."

Really? As laughable as LaVar Arrington?
Or as laughable as Adam Archuleta?
Would you care to qualify and quantify "laughable" for us, JLC?

Redskins.com interviews Stan Hixon and there is 0 mention of Brand Lloyd at all. None. Every other WR is mentioned. Does this lend some sort of proof to JLC's accusation...? I dunno.

"Really, for a game, we carry just four receivers and sometimes five."

"Reche [Caldwell] played a lot [against the Lions] last Sunday, but he just didn't get any attempts.

Four or Five wide receivers. Moss, Randle El, Thrash, McCardell, Caldwell, Lloyd. The article makes it look like Brandon Lloyd is #6 on the depth chart. I don't want to speculate as to whether or not the article lends proof, but if Caldwell "played a lot" and "just didn't get any attempts", Brandon Lloyd played a little and made the most of his opportunity.

Caldwell just didn't get the looks. Lloyd got the ball because it was a play specifically called for him.

Speculation? Definitely. I like Lloyd and hope he and the team can get past this. I'm just reading between the lines. 8)

I'm beginning to think that if Moss, Randle El, Thrash, Caldwell, and McCardell all went down with injuries, the Redskins would sign Meshawn and Koren Robinson and possibly David Boston and the receivers would still have to beg for Brandon Lloyd to get his number called.

Take out the fact he had probably the worst statistical seasons of any starting WR in NFL history last year. Take out all of his off-field antics out of it - dropping f-bombs on receivers coach Stan Hixon during 2006 OTAs (yeah, his first spring practices with the team), going ballistic on Al Saunders at halftime of the New Orleans game, having at least three blow-ups around teammates on the sidelines including when he threw his helmet and was benched the next week and lost his starting just for good to Antwaan Randle El late in the year.

Take out his inconsistency, willingness to learn just one of the three receiver positions and lack of desire to run routes that require him to do more than streak down the sidelines or catch a 5 yard slant. Take out the way he's treated secretaries and other such people at Redskins Park. Take out his outbursts and unpredictability. Take out the dropped passes. Take out the fact he missed 25 percent of 2007 training camp with shin splints. Take out missing practice with a bruised shin last week at a time in which two new receivers were on the verge of making their Redskins debut and essentially take his job.

If all of this is true I'm glad he's sitting on the bench.

Watch this:

Take out Jason's misspellings and grammatical errors, take out the fact that he's too lazy to address those, take out how often he has advanced baseless rumors as fact, take out how he relishes gossip and makes no attempt to verify much of what he reports as fact. Take out what other writers think of his lack of subjectivity and professionalism and how he treats waitresses and dogs and his hatred for Christmas and small children.

See how I mixed legitimate criticisms with inane speculation and made the whole thing seem like a conclusive indictment of someone's character? Note how I wrote in vague terms and avoided specific accusations and note how I was the ONLY source I cited. When JLC started referring to Lloyd as "the other receiver" in that pathetic and puerile taunt, he lost ANY credibility on this particular subject. That's not to say Lloyd is beyond criticism but when a reporter has made it clear that he is not only unwilling to be objective but goes out of his way to be spiteful, he simply can not be trusted on said topic.

Unfortunately, a lot of people who bog for a living...
English is my first language, and one of my great loves in life, but I have no idea about the verb: "to bog". Is the past tense bog or bag? I bog, you bog, they bog. I was bogging, we have been bogged.

It does seem that JLC doesn't like Brandon, but I don't see how boggers are to blame.

What JLC 'blogs' provides some insight into the situation and how it has developed to the point where its at.

It sounds like Gibbs way - Management 101. Praise in public, reprimand in private. Joe is giving Lloyd some tough love. I hope Lloyd takes it in and has a change of heart.

I still like Lloyd and think he has loads of potential - and think that he could turn it around - but he has to want to do it. I hope he does. Lloyd is an adult and a professional. He needs to act like one and step up.

That's been my general problem with JLC's reporting and "bogging". He honestly will get good inside info but it never comes out pure. It makes me feel like I'm being offered a big plate of food that contains 80% pasta and 20% feces. OK, so technically "most" of it is good. . .but I'm not touching it.

I'm not going to argue that JLC is not making any good points. Much of what he had to say in this blog, once it's filtered for hatting, is insightful. So, while I disagree with some of what he says, and hold the way that he says it with contempt, there's still something there.

It's still 80/20, though, and I'm not eating it.

We never gave him a chance this season not very much anyways and last game was his first reception and he got about 8 yards he's good he just needs to get out the kinks of his attitude but when he plays long enough i think hell be just good as ARE

Hmn, brings to mind what someone said in the beginning of the season "Not just one player, but a whole bunch, didn't buy into Al Saunder's scheme" He may have been one of them and, and was the last one holding the potato when all is said and done.

I think La Canfora is fantastic. Does he offer opinion in his blog? Of course, but I like that. In a world filled with guys like Larry Michaels and Chick Hernandez, La Canfora is a great change of pace.

If all you want is fact, don't bother check his blog and stick to the paper. Although if you're not after other people's opinion, I would have to wonder why you stop by at a place like theHogs.net.

What would possess you to believe there is any more fact in the newspaper than there is in JLC's blog? The sources are the same.

The Skins are having the best season they've had in a decade. The team looks great.

And you guys are fretting about a reciever who stands behind two last minute signings and a journeyman on the depth chart - and who has one catch for nine yards?

Come on. Stop wasting electricity and brain cells on Lloyd.

The Skins are 3-1. Young, fast, and well coached. Focus on the reality.

I read that entire blog and I didn't get that JLC was being unfair to Lloyd. He says early on that he's interviewed Lloyd and liked him on a personal level. He's basically just blogging about what he's hearing from his sources close to the team.

Did anybody pick up on that bit though seeming to say that the secretaries at Redskins Park don't like Lloyd? How freaking weird a comment is that.

Personally I love JLC's blog. Its totally unfiltered stuff for the most part. Much more enjoyable than reading the standard press release stuff you get from the team.

Not more fact, less opinion.

If I had to choose between Larry and Jason....I think I'd have to go with Jason. It's hard to understand Larry with his mouth always full.
