First downs:
Lions: 11
Redskins: 23 (split about evenly)
That tells more than Cambells's passer rating or anything else.
Time of possession: 34 - 25 in favor of Redskins.

A thought:
Perhaps Joe Gibbs has passed the NFL by?
Note the stats I posted above. Curious thing: in the SB 26 year, the Redskins played The Oilers, the Falcons, and the Lions in the regular season. All of them played run&shoot 4/5 receiver offenses, and the NFL quivered.
The Redskins won all the games.
The Redskins played the Falcons, Lions, and Bills in the playoffs,. winning every game. The Falcons and Bills played R&S, and the Bills played no huddle...Bills idea was to give the defense no time to make subsitutions and call defensive plays.
The Redskins crushed all those teams except the Oilers, but still beat them. As the geat Richie Petibon put it, we can't satop the run&shoot...it stops itself. Everybody remember the first play of the Lions playoff? Mr. Charles Mann swatted swept in, waved at a HoF runner named Barry Sanders, and knocked Erik Kramer, Lions QB, about ten yards into the air. The ball went somewhere else, recovered by the Redskins on about the ten yard line. The Redskins scored, and the game was over before two minutes had passed.

I couldn't be happier for anyone more than I am for Carlos. He had a solid game start to finish, and yes he can catch....I saw it with my own eyes.

This is probably going to sound simple-minded but the only stat that matters is the "W". Losing division and conference games is hazardous to a team's playoff health.
I will say that this is the most complete game I've seen a Redskins team play in a long, long time. Mistakes aside, the offense, defense and special teams all performed at a high level.

This was a total team effort. We beat the Lions in all 3 areas. I was a little disappointed with our running game, but overall a great win. Kudos to the whole team.

I just hope the injury bug hasn't hit us too hard. It looked like both teams were having players limp off on every play.

Spank.
Nice game of football. Great way to bounce back after such a dismal 2nd half display against the Giants.
Carter was a monster. He seemed to find his inside move today and he was just unstoppable.
Campbell was stout. Can't ask much more of the kid than that.
Both get my offensive and defensive game balls without hesitation. There were other good performances, but those two both played their very best games as Redskins today.
Both Saunders and Williams both coached great games today.
... and Carlos Rogers finally caught something!!!!!
They just couldn't match our physicality today. We literally owned them in both trenches and you won't lose many games where that happens.
Time of possession was sick.
The domination was complete.
Of course people will nit pick about this and that, but somehow, some people think you need to play a perfect game of football every Sunday.

Gibbs4Life wrote:How about McCardell getting a couple nice ones. Hail to Sean Taylor, Hail Jason Campbell, Pete Kendall is our lines MVP right now what an addition, if only the stinking Jets could've come through, oh well nothing stains this win 34-3 against the #1 Passing attack in the league right now! Let's enjoy this one as much as we hated the game that must not be mentioned, and then we have some guy named Favre to think about.

You have to know that on a day when B. LLoyd makes a catch, Carter gets a sack for a safety, and Rogers returns an INT for a TD it's going to be a good day. Total domination.

I was under the impression that any time your team comes away with a win it is a perfect game. At the end of the season all that counts is wins and losses. Playoff teams still aren't decided by efficiency.
It is also a little strange how quickly the forum became deserted after a win. More people stuck around to complain about the loss to the Giants than to celebrate this victory.

I have to say that despite the win the Skins still made many of the same stupid mistakes. Gibbs wasted a TO and challenge, false starts inside the 5 yard line, not recovering the fumbles. All in all it was a nice game but they cannot expect to make those mistakes agaisnt the Packers. I did not see a killer instinct in this game. We put it away based on the defense not the offense at the end. That loss to the Giants is going to haunt this team as we go into the next three games versus the Pack, Cardnals and Pats. We could very easily lose all three of those games and will if we don't manage the clock better and stop making the stupid mistakes.

Agreed GSPODS, I noticed the same thing, which makes me think there are non fans on here. But, the O started off alittle shakey but they really showed up after the Def showed everyone they can pressure without LB pressure . Im very happy and very hype about the Skins right now

I'm sorry but we could lose every game we play just as easily as we could win every one - if we continue to play as "badly" as we played today we will win a lot more games than we will lose.

Like I said... people will nit pick about this and that, because somehow, some people think you need to play a perfect game of football every Sunday to win.
Some people also just prefer to be miserable.
I say... let them be.
Don't even bother trying to 'ease their concerns'... they'll just come up with new ones.
It wasn't perfect by any means, but there was a lot of great things out there today, and after the Giants debacle, the team really needed the strong showing. The performance requires celebration, and anyone who wants to deny themselves that is absolutely welcome to go ahead and wallow in that bed of despair.
The Redskins followed a lousy game of football up with a good one - nothing more, nothing less, and nothing to be dismissed either. We spanked a team whose offense has given defenses fits.
Enjoy it my brethren, don't let a killjoy or two spoil your impressions of the game your team played today.

This sounds an awful lot like a board member called cleg during the couple of weeks prior to the Lions game.
This game went as scripted. Give credit where it is due. Excellent game plan, both on O and D, excellent execution in all three phases, but ESPECIALLY on D. Campbell improves greatly with each game. The sky IS NOT falling.

A great scoreline. Having watched the Lions in the previous weeks against a banged up Bears D they really ddin't show anyting until the Bears D got even more banged up and worn down in the 4th. I had faith the Skins could beat 'em especially with a mobile QB with a cannon arm. Really, the much-vaunted Lions 'O' is putrid. Just another reason not to believe the hype that ESPN continually peddles.

I was absolutely amazed at how well the team executed the defensive game plan. OK it turned out the Lions were not the dominant offense that everyone had them to be, but it was our defense that first shut them down. Give credit to our guys, even with a big lead they didn't give up anything cheap.

Team looked great all around. I've been waiting for a totally dominating win, and it was great to see one that got boring by the 4th quarter (for a change). Game balls all around! Totally a team effort.
As an aside, why was Marinelli still trying to win with less than 1 minute to play? NO WAY your team is coming back from 31 points down, so why risk injury to any starters? Just made no sense to me. Kitna has already taken a beating, and it's only your 5th game. Face it; it's a loss. Tell the QB to take a knee, and don't risk any more injuries.

Did anyone hear the announcers say that Gregg Williams commented that Sean Taylor was his favorite player he ever coached? It's a big deal when a defensive guru singles out a player like that. ST is a beast. I hope we can keep he and Landry together for many more years.

A beautiful game, start to finish. Campbell had his best day as a Redskin, and our rushing and passing attacks were—as Gibbs would say—balanced.
Our defense looked as sick as it ever has since Gregg Williams took over. Have we ever seen our front four generate that kind of pass rush all by themselves?
And how can you not let out a huge sigh of relief now that Carlos got that pick for a TD. Let's hope that will "break the ice"—he's always been so close to making plays like that, and maybe this is the year he breaks out.
I was amazed at our depth at WR and in LBs and defensive linemen. We've got the right people in place.
