Jets ticket holder sues Patriots and coach Belichick, seeks damages of more than $184 million.
NEW YORK (AP) -- A New York Jets season-ticket holder filed a class-action lawsuit Friday against the New England Patriots and coach Bill Belichick for "deceiving customers."
The lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Newark, N.J., by Carl Mayer of Princeton Township, N.J., stems from the Patriots being caught illegally videotaping signals from Jets coaches in New England's 38-14 season-opening win Sept. 9.
"They violated the integrity of the game," Mayer's attorney, Bruce Afran, told The Associated Press. "This is a way of punishing Belichick and the Patriots."
Mayer is seeking more than $184 million in damages for Jets ticket holders.
Would I love to see the plaintiff win this lawsuit?

I would love to see this happen. I was really surprized by the little slap on the wrist that the NFL gave to the Patriots. Here the NFL is trying to make the players be accountable for their actions well what about the coaches, in fact what about a whole team.

A certain HOF Redskins coach and his GM were known to stash quality players on the 1980's equivalent to the IR (of course, they denied it), only to magically find them availible for duty in the event of an untimely injury to an active player (why do you think the system is set up the way it currently is?). Do you advocate fans suing over this clear misuse of the system during that time?
This suit is a petulant temper tantrum... and a waste of a court's time.

Or a public relations effort to add further salt to the wound and keep the issue alive in the media for as long as possible.
Having said so, it is the USA. Are you surprised that somebody is suing somebody else? Come on. It was just a matter of time.

In Dan Snyder's case, I don't think it qualifies as deception. He's pretty out front about putting a less than quality product everywhere, from the parking lot to the stadium itself to the team to the concessions. I don't think there is any legal recourse for repeating the same procedures and expecting different results. That would be true of both Dan Snyder and of Redskins fans. Perhaps we are all insane.

No, RIC... it's just more proof of the fact that we have far more lawyers than can be gainfully and purposefully employed. I have developed a plan to share our wealth of these parasites... er... I mean barristers... with the rest of the world. How many will you sign Canada up for?

Not many and the worst part is that I may know about some of them.
