How in the world would they know? And I think there would have been a report by now. This guy was walking off fine after the game because I remember Comcast tracking him down as he was headed to the locker room. There has been no announcement yet so I wouldn't panic. I mean an (O) listed next to him on some starters sheet for a game that is 8 days away?! That seems a little premature. And I think McCardell is being signed because of Lloyd, not necessarily the injury. Relax people!

I haven't located another source to confirm KFFL. And NFL teams are not required to report injury status until, I believe, the Thursday before gameday. I only posted this because I was wondering if anyone else had heard or seen this from another source, and because this might explain why the Redskins are looking for another wide receiver. Which Redskins wide receiver currently on the roster would you trust as the #2 receiver if Moss is out and Randle El moves to the #1 receiver slot?

What seems premature to me is jumping to the conclusion, like so many others, that every roster move the Redskins make has something to do with Brandon Lloyd.

How wasn't the Caldwell signing for Brandon Lloyd? He has already fallen out of favor with the coaching staff. Now I personally feel we didn't give him enough of a chance but James Thrash is predominantly the 3rd reciever right now. Which isn't a good thing so they brought in Caldwell and now McCardell. I think it is fair to say Lloyd has a roster spot because of his salary and it would be too big of a hit to release him, according to La Canfora of the Post.

I think it's fair to say that if Moss is out and Randle El gets injured, the Redskins don't have another wide receiver who has caught a pass this season.

How can he be out? We still have a whole week to rest him and see if his condition improves.

THis also maybe a chance for Lloyd to shine.

No. Lloyd will not shine. He will still suck.

I e-mailed Jason La Confora and he personally told me that Moss was out for more than one game and McCardell is being signed due to injury. Here is exactly what he said:

From: "Jason F LaCanfora" <lacanforaj@washpost.com>
Date: Sun, 30 Sep 2007 17:44:29 -0400
To: "Robert Hunt" <fands57@yahoo.com>

I think santana is going to miss a few games don't see them dumping lloyd till after the season.
Cheers

Wow this is terrible news if true. We are going to have to put up a bunch of point to beat the Lions and that is going to be very difficult to do without Moss. ARE has played well but he really isn't anything other than a #3 receiver. Neither Thrash or Lloyd had caught a ball this season, and neither Caldwell or McCardell has even played a regular season down this year. This is not good at all.

Not when we are getting such poor offensive production from our passing game.

Please keep the thread on topic... and Deshean Jackson being drafted next year has nothing to do with Santana Moss being injured this week.

If you want to start a thread in a more appropriate forum on Jackson, be my guest.

Thx.

ARE is nothing more than a #3 receiver? I hope that's a typo for #2. He's yet to be able to show his stuff as a legitimate #2 until this year. He's always been a gadget. To me, he's shown that he COULD be a consistant #2 (with a little luck), so I'm optimistic about that. We'll see, especially if Santana is out.

On a related note, don't count Thrash out as a receiver. I hope, as most of you have, our opponents have underestimated him and he will excel.

our receivers just need to catch the ball when they are thrown to, and we need to actually call pass plays in order for that to happend. And actually give Lloyd a chance, he's been on the field like what, 5 times all season? IF moss is out, then hopefully Lloyd will get more than 5 plays and get a chance to shine.

Lloyd has fallen out of favor in Washington.. Moss or no Moss Lloyd still wont be on the field IMO

I'd like to see Lloyd use this opportunity to finally emerge as a real threat. Probably just a dream, but it would be a very pleasant surprise to see Lloyd finally have a break-out game.

Edit: Actually, I meant to post that in the Moss injury thread.

I heard on the radio yesterday that Lloyd might even be inactive this week. Can't be on the field if your not in uniform.

I agree..... I guess if you give these guys the opportunities, they will show and prove.

If you look at passing teams like the Pats, Colts, and Bengals, they seem to have plays that they used across the middle, in the flat, and definitely up the field. The same can be said for Cleveland too. And do it with confidence that if it doesn't work this time, it will later. But we appear to be that wife or girlfriend that can't decide if she wants to wear the full-length evening gown (run the ball) or the shorter black cocktail dress (pass the ball). And if the coctail dress get's a stain on it, we just trash it instead of dabbing the stain out and continue wearing it..... If my analogy makes sense???

Dunno... maybe if it is a blue cocktail dress with a stain on it? 8)
