I looked but haven't seen anything. Seems like a fairly uncommon injury.

He certainly looked in pain. On the bright side I thought Heyer played pretty darn well. The running game certainly didn't suffer.

I hope Heyer gets the start... He played well today, he got preperation during the summer. Why not get him primed and ready to go in case he needs to start next year?

You rarely see a guy in that kind of agony. It looked like he was in tears leaving the field. Heartbreaking. I have to think some of it was the knowledge that his injury was very serious, not just the pain.

John, you are a core Skin and you've a source of pride for all of us over some very long years. Get better soon. We need you!

I see what you're saying but there were reports last season in the Post (i know it's the Post but it could be accurate) that Wade was playing better than Jansen in practice. If that is actually the case, then I think you have to start Wade. Heyer did well today under the circumstances but he is still and undrafted rookie. If we have a veteran guy that is capable of playing on the same level as Jansen (or potentially better) than I think he needs to play.

And here's the reverse truth. If Jansen was starting, then that means those reports were either wrong or taken out of context. Take a look at the source for them: then only source I've seen was JLC, which tells me something. Jansen was definitely the guy we wanted starting today, and it's a real shame that the injury happened.

I think we'll see Wade step in as the full time starter, but I agree with you that Heyer had a great showing today. That's also the reason why I think we weren't seeing as much of ey in the passing attack, as he was often staying tight to give extra help to Heyer.

what pisses me off is that the injury was likely caused by the utterly outrageous offsides on the play that wasn't called. it should have been an automatic 1st down followed by an easy TD. the refs stole 4 points from us there.

but anyways the point is, jansen got injured by a guy rolling up on him as a result of the chaotic mess of blockers/rushers that resulted from the defender being literally an entire body-length in front of the rest of the d-line at the snap.

what could the ref POSSIBLY have been looking at to miss that call???

It's similar to Randy Thomas' past injury. Randy said so himself.

Its disclocated still not good

Jansen dislocated his right ankle during the second quarter and will not return. Jansen was injured when Miami's Zach Thomas rolled onto his legs from behind.

If his ankle was dislocated then I'd assume there has to be some ligament damage involved. I've got a very bad feeling about Jansen's chances of coming back any time soon.

Dislocation can do more damage than a simple fracture. Not good at all. We all know from Joey T what a compound fracture does, so I'm glad Jansen doesn't have that to contend with.

There had to be a reason Wade was inactive and the undrafted rookie dressed.

Doesn't he have a issue with his shoulder?

Jansen is probably done for the season( I'm thinking 3 to 5 months not in terms of weeks at all )

I think the Redskins just felt comfortable with Heyer in an emergency and took the opportunity to let Wade rest that shoulder for another week. In the worst case scenario, which is where we are, we only needed Heyer to play a few quarters, and now the coaches can juggle personnel to make the rest of the season work.

I'm very much hoping this isn't true but I've got "that feeling" that you get when you watch a player go down. See Jansen's face after the injury made my stomach drop.

Yeah man, my heart definitely dropped. The agony made me cringe... When he went into the tunnel, you could see the hurt and disappointment. Poor guy.

Making a backup G/T inactive and dressing a rookie that only plays one spot says it's more than resting him. No one knew JJ would go down.

I agree. Everyone at the bar noticed the offsides, why couldn't the official standing five feet away?

Yeah , it gave me a sick kind of feeling too. Not so much that it was Jansen that was injured , but his reaction to the injury. Most likely its a season ender and he seemed to know it right away. This type of joint dislocation will require months of rehab just to get limited mobility and strength back due to the amount of ligaments, not to metion the existing scar tissue from the Achillies injury. Unfortunately guys , he may not be the same tackle again , IF he ever does make it back(lets hope he does) however his age doesnt help matters. Ive never heard of this injury not requiring surgery as well, most doctors and trainers woukld have hoped for a break, it appeared they tried to get it back in on the field, I dont know if they were successful but the longer it was out, the more Damage was done. I just pray he can come back to us in some capacity next year, not because he helps the team but, for him as a person
