I'll take it, but that game really sucked.

Hey Chris, remember how you had said in a training camp thread:

THe difference between Smoot and Rogers is that Smoot makes the pick and Rogers doesn't.

Oops.

What the hell was going on with Santana Moss & his inability to catch the football? That worries me.

Campbell's high passes I think were just a result of him being excited for the first game. I hope.

What's that? Why yes, it's a Mark Brunell-esque backtrack!

The team played very hard today. There were a lot of mistakes, but I saw the kind of resolve that we'll need this year. And a win is never a bad thing.

Definitely was a good start. Shake the cobwebs off and get oiled up.

My thoughts after the game....

CP is a monster. I think that he clearly showed that he is the #1 running back on this team. He ran like an elite back against a very tough defense. Betts played well also but CP average almost 2 yards more per carry. Glad that we have both but CP is the man.

The oline is going to be very good this season. They were inconsistant today, but considering that they hadn't played together during the preseason and Jansen's injury today, they did very well. Does anyone know why Wade was innactive?

Receivers...ARE was the man. He was very impressive and hopefully he can keep this up. Moss had a few slip ups but JC also missed him when he was wide open on that one throw. Lloyd is garbage. Sit him on the bench until he starts showing some effort. JC didn't deserve that second INT.

JC was inconsistant but made some clutch throws to keep drives alive and also used his feet on some key plays. He missed some throws and that first int was bad (although Cooley ran a pretty poor route). He didn't force the ball and threw it away when he needed too. He didn't deserve the second int.

Defensively, we were very good for the most part. Running defense was awesome. Not much more to say about the run D because they totally shut down the Phins run attack. Passing wise it was more shaky. Why was Spring on the sidelines for so many plays? The Phins found a hole between out linebackers and safeties and also underneath. Smoot had a shaky start but rebounded and played well in the second half imo.

Rocky was the best defensive player on the field today for us. He was all over the place, even getting a sack. Marcus, on the other hand, looked very poor imo. He missed some tackled and looked a little lost in pass coverage. Fletcher really clogged the middle and made some big plays.

Dline....Like I said earlier, great against the run. Not so much against the pass. Carter had an early sack but was nowhere to be seen the rest of the day. It's concerning that we couldn't get more pressure agains the Phins garbage oline without blitzing.

Suisham was awesome. Good kickoffs and clutch kicking. This guy has been very impressive since coming over here. Frost looks like he's on HGH with the way he was punting.

Finally...Carlos Rogers is garbage. The Phins abused him today. He looks as bad as he did last season. He has never played like a top 10 draft pick and I don't think that he is ever going to.

Overall good to start off the season with a win. It wasn't pretty, but I have a feeling that we would've lost this game last season. All that matters in the end is the W.

I wouldn't say he sucks but I think his confidence is as high as Gregg implied. He's still playing way off which Gregg attributed to a lack of confidence last year. When he got called for pass interference, he had no way of knowing that the ball was over thrown and he's grabbing the WR's arm cus he's scared to get beat deep.

I'm sorry but the kid has some head issues it appears.

Ah he's not my Carlos. In that thread, I just was pointing out that Smoot isn't exactly an interception machine either...

The Defense, save for The Cushion, looked great. Rocky is a future star. The running game was great, and JC would have been better with a little more help from his recievers. The Dolphins D is tough, so I cant be too critical of Campbell.

....Whew! The rest of the NFL...You can't be the first to get beat by the skins, but you can be the next!

Smoot does have decent hands - although like Dan Dierdorf pointed out, there's a reason he plays defense.

Rogers was miserable - but what's new?

Also, remember that 4th and 2 that Todd Yoder got called for "simulating the snap"? In his post-game press conference, Gibbs says he went over that play with the referees before the game, and that they didn't have a problem with it. It will be interesting to see if anyone follows up on exactly what is and is not legal in the situation.

I see what you are saying but imo he sucks. He is a top 10 pick in his third full NFL and the Miami Dolphins abused him. It may be confidence issues but I think that he simply doesn't have the speed to be a good NFL corner. He plays so far off of receivers because he knows he doesn't have the speed to keep up with receivers on deep routes. He can improve his confidence but it's very hard to improve speed.

The good news: Philthy's defense doesn't scare anyone as much as Miami's defense. 1-0 and room for improvement.

Randel el had 162 yards thats a good start but Moss could of at least had 72 yards if he didn't drop nothing.

JC did good the Miami D was a much better D than last year and with that the skins need to pratice more in the 3rd down conversions.

But overall London was a true leader and had 12 tackles and for the Skins D to shut down the Run is good also.

And ROCKY McIntosh's 11 tackles -sack-FF?

WoW

JC should of had a TD to lloyd .Portis didn't start all the way and had 98 yards is impressive with a TD also hell ya.

But its ok guys we start out slow JC played the best D we had to play and he can fell more comfortable cause Eagles sucks.

brandon lloyd...

i've had enough of him. he was non existent tonight, as usual. im not gonna say much, but i really think we need another WR to be elite. Lloyd is a bust, ARE had a monster game today but what are the chances of him playing near that level for a 16 game season? wheter its through the draft or FA WR should be our target in the (maybe near) future..

before you guys start hammering me, i know he's a nice guy and does charity and all that, but that doesnt make a difference on the field. i was really high on Lloyd for a while, and thought he'd play well today but he let me down. im tired of let downs, im glad we won but Lloyd barely did anything...

is Chambers still on the block?? he looked good tonight

Thats the only thing I saw that concerns me. The play of Jason and Moss will improve, but will the D-line be able to get pressure on strong O-Lines if they weren't pressuring Green behind that seive of a line?

Agree 100%. And to think that we traded a 3rd and 4th rounder for this guy. A good NFL receiver either catches (or at least knocks down) that second int that Jason threw. One on one coverage you expect your receiver to make that play.

Cooley was being asked to block Porter on a lot of plays. It looked like he was being kept in to block more than usual so he didn't have that many opportunities to catch passes.
