There's a new Skins bar in NYC.
Red Sky Bar
47 East 29th St. (btwn Park & Madison)
212-447-1820
http://redskynyc.com
There are going to show the game with sound, they have drink/food specials, and they are doing it up and going the whole nine yards on this. They'll have a large projection TV and other TVs setup around the bar...of course, there will be sound. They are definitely enthusiastic and 100% committed to the Skins.
It looks like a pretty cool place and you can't beat the name.
If you'd like to join the Redskins meetup group, go to
http://redskins.meetup.com/17/ or check out my myspace page

Hope to see y'all there.

Whatever, Debby Downer.
Overall, it was a good experience. Would be interested in hearing other opinions (if you were there).
They have promised to work with us and improve....especially now that we had a great turnout. Honestly, they didn't think the turnout would be THIS big.
I'll post some pics when my buddy gets them to me.

yeah i was there for about 10 minutes before kickoff and i have to say i was a little more than disappointed. and its your fault that i went there because you created this thread.
yeah it was cool that it was mostly skins fans but man that place was tiny!... it was sooo narrow. it was just a bunch of dudes smooshed up against a small bar with a few tvs. if you got there when i did(10 min before kickoff) there was no room to see the game.
i guess what im really trying to say is i hated your bar. it was too small, too cramped and there was too much competition at the bar.
you know where a better place to watch the game was(not that i work there and shamelessly plugging it)?.... mecury bar... its soo much bigger. i had a place to sit and watch the game with my gf and family without a bunch of heads in the way. i didnt have to fight to order a beer, and there was plenty of room for everyone to watch the game. like red sky it was mostly skins fans but without the hastle. by far it was more comfortable.
i hardly leave brooklyn to watch games in the first place. i would much rather be at a dive with one or two skins fan than at that crummy tiny bar where you have to huddle up next to some sweaty dude to barely see the game. but if i have to go somewhere in Manhattan because my gf's family is visiting from vienna va... its going to be mercury bar over the red sky place every time, hands down.
but dont take my word for it..
for real redd's in williamsburg brooklyn and turkeys nest in williamsburg brooklyn are the best places to watch skins games in nyc(still not a plugg, and still just opinion)

What's your point?...other than to complain. Mercury Bar caters to NY Giants/Jets fans or whatever the game of the week is. They told me they would not play the audio for the Skins games. Who wants that?
Red Sky was packed and tight....admittedly, they were unprepared for the 100+ Skins fans who showed up. But they are willing to work with us and make it a great experience for Redskins (not Giants/Jets) fans. Your workplace caters to whoever will pay for a beer. They just don't care.
Red Sky is adding staff on game days, opening up the up 2nd floor lounge and the roof, adding TVs in the bar in the lounge.
Thanks for the complaints and have fun watching games, comfortably with Giants and Jets fans.

I've never been to Red Sky, but I will say this, if you and your boys, LaRou, can recreate the environment that other place (rhymes with "The Halls") had on Redskin game days, then it most certainly would be worth going on Sundays. Sure you might have to stand, but there really is no feeling quite like singing "Hail to the Redskins" with a room full of Skins fans, in a different city, particularly in the Big Apple.
Best,

Here's some video footage of the Red Sky crowd.
(thanks, Doyle!)

As you can see, most people had a great time. Red Sky has made the changes (more space, more staff, more TVs) and it will only get better.
But, to me, it's the fans that make or break a place.

Anyone know if this is still the place to meet in NYC?
I'll be up there this weekend, and I wouldlove to be among Redskins fans, as the Skins poleaxe the Vikings.

Yes, although I haven't been. I intend to be there this Sunday night, since there's no better place to watch a Skins game -- other than FedEx -- is a room jam full of other Redskin fans.
