HOGNOSTICATIONS 2007: NFL Week 1
Posted: Mon Sep 03, 2007 1:24 pm
Dear Hognosticators,
Finally!
Here we are, the most cherished title in THN Board goes up for grabs again among all posters for the NFL 2007 season. Yes, only registered posters can participate. So, if you are not registered yet and you would like to do so, register as soon as possible!
Our brother Texas Hog has explained the purpose of the game. It is a game that puts both your knowledge and your luck to the test for an -entire- NFL season. We have competitors who are mostly Redskins fans but others are welcome to participate as well (and be embarrassed if they accept the challenge). This is a very tough crowd which routinely beats the statistics of the "experts" in some "professional" media sports outlets. So, you know what you are getting into. But it is tremendously anticipated and enjoyed by everyone here.
You know the story. We have two Champions for the 2005 and 2006 seasons: yours truly and Hoss. It was very tough to win these titles and only a few games decided the title during the last week of each regular season. This goes to remind us about the importance of having competitive picks -every- week. Some of us did not recover from a couple of really bad weeks throughout the competition last year. But if you even wish to have a remote chance to win this tough competition you should make sure to participate -every- week. Consistency, good consistency that is, pays well in this competition.
The schedule and deadlines for Hognostications are -posted- by Texas Hog on the front page of the Hognostications section. We accept no excuses. If you do not meet the deadline, you miss out and you might be very likely missing a shot at the championship title. Let this become fair warning to -everyone-. Please do not invent dramatic excuses to try to justify your lack of discipline.
You may post your picks in these threads if you wish but THEY DO NOT COUNT. In order to count, your picks must be registered on time in the approtiate Weekly Form.
I will be opening a thread -every- week to discuss and brag about the stats and results of the Hognostications during the previous week and I will be announcing the opening of the new week with the next games on it. I will be writing about the Hognostications results and the Hognosticators and not really a commentary about the past or future games. I will leave that to Texas Hog and others.
You can use -any- technique to select winners every week. Some read the Vegas picks, others look for the "experts" picks (sorry for them), yet others have very innovative and creative methods. For example, one of our competitors has a crystal ball. Others pick preferably home teams. Whatever your method, I wish you success because you are going to need it.
I will be picking the Washington Redskins to win -every- week. This is a principle at THN. Beware of the consequences as a Skins fan otherwise. And yes, I am coming back to recover -MY- championship in 2007!
Hail to the Redskins,
Redskin in Canada
