Unjustifiable panic,
preserved for posterity.

I knew that there was a Vinny Cerrato fan out there still dfending his hiring record and "talent" discovery abilities.
What an embarrasment!!!
That's the FO for you guys. Instead of having looked for young undiscovered talent, we resort to have to SEARCH for talent in one of the most COWARD and INEPT receivers NOBODY else would even bother to look at.
Nice going Danny and Vinny ...

I'm a little surprised by the release of Jerametrius Butler, but having said that I don't recall hearing his name during preseason. Is that a good or bad thing for a corner? Guess he doesn't have it anymore.

Well, I know some will say we lack depth at the WR position, and I would agree with that, but I'm not sad to see Pinkston go. I just don't think I could stand the site of him in a Skins uniform. And besides, Skins jerseys aren't made to fit someone with alligator arms.
Butler is a bit of a surprise. I thought the staff liked him and I think I remember them trying to acquire him a few years ago. We obviously didn't see much from him in the pre-season, but I guess he didn't impress anyone at camp either.

I wonder if this means Westbrook might have a chance.

Shocked by Butler, dude was a starter and made plays in St. Louis, I even gave him props on CBS, oh well In Gibbs We Trust.

So how much do we pay a guy like Butler to just come in and do training camp?

He was injured since the beginning of training camp and just now got back on the field.

I had some high hopes for Justin Hickman to emerge as a pass rushing DE, but it looks like, according to the depth chart previously posted in another thread, that Alex Buzbee is listed ahead of him. Anyone have any update on Hickman, or is his size keeping him from moving up? At least he made it through the first cuts.
RE: Butler - Obviously being hurt and not getting to play wasn't enough to keep him on the roster just based on his rep & previous experience at St. Louis. Being cut at this point will give him a chance to sign somewhere else, which is an honorable thing to do with a vet. I just hope that he doesn't sign with someone we will be playing and end up making any big plays against us. The chance you take though.
Maybe this is a sign of them trying to develop some depth from within with some of our younger players. Could that be it? Maybe? Is that possible?

I'm really surprised by Butler. They went after him hard in 04 and they hardly give him a shot this year. I wish I could have seen more of him.

I'm actually surprised by the release of Butler and Pinkston. For Butler I thought he was a very good corner that played very well for the Rams, as far as Todd Pinkston I guess I'm surprised because we just signed him last week. I don't understand why we signed him in the first place if all we were going to do is release him. The Redskins knew what kind of a player Pinkston was

I'm really surprised by the release of Butler. Isn't he the one the Redskins went after in 2004, and if not for the Rams matching the Redskins offer, they would have got him. Clearly, they were familiar with him and thought he'd be a good fit, but his performance must have slipped over the last two years. At least they had the gumption to realize that he wasn't everything they thought he would be. Though I'm surprised, I'm not terribly dissapointed. He didn't have much of an impact.

Thank goodness we got rid of Pinkston. The guy is like a twig man. He could literally snap in half.

$40,000 is what you pay for insight into the Eagles' playbook.

I'm not sure 40k is enough to get me to sign up for training camp to get hit by people like Sean Taylor andLaRon Landry...
And Fios...classic. Just classic.

This is a good thing! Last year he would have been a starter for a game or two and this year he can't even make the team. That bodes well for our depth at CB!

It is for me! That is more than I made in my first 3 or 4 years in the Navy (of course that was way back in the late 80s) It is still more than half a year's pay for me.

I don't think that we should be too surprised by the release of Butler. He was a promising prospect but came with the risk of being constantly injured. The Rams released him for that reason, and the Redskins took a shot on him knowing that it might not work out.
Butler simply hasn't seen enough reps in practice or in games due to hamstring issues. If he can't stay healthy, there's no real need to keep him around, especially since our depth at corner is so good.
I'm interested to see whether Eubanks has made a strong enough case to be kept by the team. I don't think he'd be eligible for the practice squad anymore, and he's likely battling Jimoh for that #5 slot.

Fumble recovery in the end zone for the game winning TD in game 1 of the preseason.
